Mr. Smith (Tabby)

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 124 Posts

Mr. Smith is 5 years old and a Tabby Tom. Two years ago, my young niece thought Smith would like it better living with me.

He has a 'thing' for string or thread! I tie things to the end of a long thread and he chases it all over the house. His eyes become like black saucers and he gets very excited. I have to make sure though he doesn't swallow any as that's his main aim. He has his mouseys and balls but the best is when I tie a triangular piece of paper to the end of a thread and with upward jerky movements I make the 'moth' fly. It looks and acts just like one.

Before he came to me 'Smith' was with two families with children and he spent most of his time hiding in airing cupboards or just about anywhere to escape repeated attempts to pick him up. He's been with me for two years now and he is like another cat from the cantankerous boy I had to begin with. He's my furry alarm clock and wakes me in the morning wanting a smooth. He sits under my arm as he 'paddles' with his big paws. He loves his tuna - that's his favourite word! He dances on his back legs when he wants his dinner and he gives me a High 5 with his paw when he wants to go into the hallway outside my flat door. Right now he is on my desk on a cushion looking out the window at all the birdies swooping by. He's a very affectionate boy now and even likes a belly rub. He's so different to the cat that arrived 2 years ago and I'm much better for having him.

Thank you Laura for leaving a message!
He's such a bootiful boy now, I can't believe how much he's changed.
He's not a lap cat but loves attention now and follows me wherever I go. Right now though he's asleep under my duvet where it's nice and warm!

I hope you might post something about your furry babies! With pictures too... and don't forget to let me know when they are on the site, I would love to see.

Thank you again Laura,
Wishing you and your family a happy holiday!

As I write this he's just appeared and now sitting on my desk looking out the window - cat television really - It's dusk now so not much on the TV I'm afraid!

Oh, he is such a beauty! We have four cats in our house, 2 starter cats and 2 replacement cats. One of ours looks a lot like Smith and they are wonderful cats.

Hope he enjoys his life of leisure and obviously you get a lot of joy from him.

I love that tabby! Mr.Smith has gorgeous eyes and looks
so regal. I was owned by a tortishell AllieMae
and she was a cat with many moods and wild.
To this day I still miss her daily. I now have
a love ball of a doggie.

Our cats must have come from the same litter! lol Then this one was quite small, it walked up to us, mewed it's way into our hearts. Thinking she was a girl, with the striped legs, I wanted to name her Pippy, like in the story, "Pippy Longstockings". A month later we learned she was a boy, so my grandson wanted to name him Chewy! We couldn't agree, so we changed Pippy to Peppy, since he was such a good eater, and combined the two to discover the perfect name for this gorgeous tomcat:

Peppy Chewy! He comes when called for any reason, sleeps in a cage at night, is both a house and watch cat, meowing when a human is in the room or at the door! He has identical markings but in medium dark gray, with huge paws (still a kitten) and a fantastic fluffy wide tail (not suitable for a Tom, but lovely and VERY soft to pet!). The two would have such fun, because Peppy Chewy is so very playful, affectionate, and alert. We don't let him on furniture, clothing, or roam too much because he "marks" occasionally, hoping it can be all his, I suppose. I understand it's a habit with Toms? It washes away with white vinegar water, thank God!

He sleeps in the cage which limits/ restricts that, which he doesn't seem to mind at all. This is the best breed I've ever owned. I prefer it to all the others I've had over my many years! I thank God for him every day. Thanks for the lovely photo to compare! I wish I knew how to use my new digital camera W/docking station to send in! Perhaps I'll have time to read detailed lengthy instructions after Christmas? God bless you both!

Thank you to everyone for leaving such nice comments about Smith, if he knew he'd have a very big head right now!
I love reading about your animals and hope you might post a picture of yours one day.

A lot of people tell me they know of a cat that looks exactly like him and I must say tabby's do look mostly the same but there's none quite like him - of course! :)
I wish I had mentioned his 'broken' purr and his Meercat impressions and that the oddball likes tortilla chips but will save that for another day!
Thank you all for leaving messages =^..^=

Happy holidays to you and your furry families and your humans too!

Monique & Mr. Smith xx
