Ice cream will keep better after it has been opened if a piece of waxed paper or plastic wrap is pressed against the surface of the ice cream left in the box/pail and then resealed.

I received this tip so long ago that I can't remember where or who I got it from. However I've been using it ever since and it has always worked for me! To keep ice crystals from forming on ice cream, simply store the container in the freezer upside-down!
Like any frozen product, however, ice cream won't keep forever without going bad....especially when it's been used out of.
