German Fruit Cake

  • 3/4 c. butter (softened)
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs (beaten)
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 t. soda
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 c. cherry preserves
  • 3/4 c. apricot preserves
  • 3/4 c. apricot preserves
  • 1/4 t. orange flavoring
  • 1/4 t. cherry flavoring
  • 1/4 t. vanilla flavoring
  • 1/3 c. pecan nuts

  • 1/3 c. English walnuts
  • 13 c. black walnuts

Add all ingredients except nutmeats. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Add nutmeats. Put in greased and floured loaf or bundt pan. Bake in 325 degree oven for 90 minutes.

Sounds like the recipe my sister lost when her house burned, but I think there is a typo-it calls for apricot preserves twice. Shouldn't it be some other preserve?
