H.E. Detergent

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 203 Posts

If you have one of those new front loading, low water use washing machines, the repairman told me that I should be using a H.E. (high efficiency) detergent. It causes less suds than the regular detergent, which with the smaller amount of water doesn't totally remove in the rinse cycle. if this has happened to you (a dishwasher works the same way) use 2/3 cup of dishwasher detergent and place it in the front loading area and just run the washer.

if you have a problem with over sudsing you can also add 1/2 -1 cup liquid fabric softner that knocks down the suds asap.It worked for my sis when my niece poured whole bottle of bubble bath in hers.Hope this helps if get you in a jam. You could also make your own ld soap its less expensive and works well and there is a lot less suds if interested check out the the fugal recipe site for homes laundry detergent

you can use white vinegar in the rinse cycle...it will take the extra detergent/sudsing agent right out. Just use about a thrid of the usual amt of regular detergent and vinegar in the rinse.

Cheaper and less chemicals than fabric softener! (we are allergic to that here)
