Treating Dog's Thinning Hair?

My Pomeranian's hair doesn't grow back very well after being shaved. Has anyone has tried Biotin supplement to help with the a dogs hair growth? I know that this is good for humans with thinning hair but wanted to make sure this would also be good for dogs. I know I can use the Melatonin supplement but was just wondering about the Biotin.

Using human supplements or treatments that are meant for human beings are, most of the time, not at all safe or healthy for pets! Instead of having your baby shaved perhaps you could have him/her groomed more often and leave an inch of fur growth at grooming time. I am not trying to be mean but I doubt poochie really cares if he/she does not have growing back well or thinner fur like we humans seem to be bothered by with our hair.
