ABC Salad

Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 5,887 Posts

This is basically a "dump" type salad in that all the ingredients are eventually mixed together.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 oz.) can applesauce
  • Advertisement

  • 2 bananas, diced to bite-size
  • 1 (16 oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. lemon gelatin
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple
  • 1 can fruit cocktail
  • 1 cup each of fresh fruits such as grapes, bananas, etc.

Directions:

Mix first 3 ingredients together well and chill. Cook rice until tender and cool. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add rice and crushed pineapple with juice. Drain fruit cocktail and add to rice/pineapple mixture. The first 3 combined ingredients can be mixed in last with the fresh fruit. Pour into bowl and let jell. The salad is topped with the whipped cream after it has started to jell

Do you mix it all together, or put in the bowl in layers?

The whip cream and fresh fruit? I think part of this recipe is missing!

If anyone gets this figured out, I would love to know. It sounds delicious but wouldn't want to mess it up by guessing what to do with the 'extras'. I've Googled ABC Salad but they all seem to be something else entirely. Thanks.

Editor's Note: The recipe has been updated above. You basically mix all the ingredients together.

And my questions are: how much salad does this make? Is the rice Uncooked or cooked? Sounds like a lot of stuff not to know exactly what you are doing. Anxious to hear from you.
Thanks

Oops, now I know about the rice. Thanks, all I had to do was read the instructions.
