Wildlife: Japanese Snow Monkeys

Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts

My mother photographed these monkeys while visiting the Jigokudani Monkey Park in Japan. Jigokoku means "hell" and Jigokudani translates to "Hell's Valley", named due to the bubbling boiling water these monkeys so comfortably lounge in.

This monkey mother and baby team were hanging out just 4 yards from the human being onlookers; no fences. Apparently they are more comfortable with people than with other Macaque gangs.

I used to think the red faces and bottoms were distracting, but these nipples have them beat!

That was great. Made me laugh. Informative, too.
