I think you would have to strip the old wax off and re-wax.

I think if it's first top coat you could hand buff it with a pad? 4 coats you may have to scrape and buff it then lay your wax again in that spot.

Been there not good first you want to power buff the footprints with a medium pad with just a little water no chemicals until they are no longer visible then wax the spot you worked on once that dries wax the entire floor again. Good luck
