How do you remove ticks? They seem to be under the skin.

I just found a new and easy way to remove ticks from your pets (dog or cats) Is to get a cotton ball and saturate it with hand soap and rub it on the tick for about 15 or 20 seconds and it will back out and stick to the cotton ball. I have yet to try it but it is supposed to work.

If the dog has a severe infestation and appears sick, take the animal to the vet. A severe infestation can result in Anemia, which can effect the animals ability to fight an infection. It can also cause kidney and liver failure.

If the dog just has a small number of ticks, try using a pair of small pliers to pull them off, while administering a rapid flea and tick killer. K-9 advantix or frontline work well for this, and will keep killing for a month Another product called "Capstar" works over night for fleas but only last a few days, it is a boarding product to prevent infestations of Kennels. There is another product sold at most Vets these day, that is sold per Pill for around 12.50 each. The name escapes me, but it begins with a C. It will kill them all in a few days or they will simply leave the animal. Not good if it is an inside dog. If you have a flea or ticks infestation in your home, and you home has carpet, sprinkle Borax liberally over the carpet at night and vacuum in the morning, and repeat every three days for a week. it will kill them all including the eggs. Make sure to dispose of the vacuum bag once done. I recommend leaving the vacuum outside until the final vacuuming or change the bag every time you vacuum until they are all gone. Remember, if you don't it will be filled with fleas or ticks.
