"Miracles in Bloom" Centerpieces?

I am planning a big event for a non-profit organization. The theme is "Miracles in Bloom" (It is all about gardening and growing up). I need to make (or buy) centerpieces for 75 tables. I found terra cotta pots for .52 each, so that leaves me with about $100 to complete the look. Any ideas on what I can fill them with to make attractive centerpieces that one person at each table will want to take home? Thanks so much!

What type of Non-Profit is the organization? Is there something you can use that ties whatever is "blooming" to the cause of the non-profit?

How about spraying the pots in nice bright colours, then inside stick a decorative pot stake, either metal or wooden...u can buy really pretty ones with shaped tops to resemble flowers or butterflies....then in the gap around the stake, make or buy some nice bookmarks in a floral or garden theme and you can even put an inspirational quote on the reverse...bookmarks can be made by sticking pretty floral wrapping paper to cereal box card and then covering with adhesive clear contact paper....or you can search the net for 'free' printable bookmarks. You can then use a hole-punch at the top of the bookmark and pop a ribbon through to match the colour of the painted pot. Good luck with it all :)

You don't have very much money per centerpiece- about $1.33 each... wow- first, invest in spray paint, get the cheapest and get about 3 colors- maybe yellow, pink and lavender (or blue) paint the pots. Then hit the dollar store for flowers. Look for the garland type (long ropes with flowers on them) you can make them go for 2-3 centerpieces. Fill the pots with old plastic bags, stick a chopstick in the center (glue it in place) then wrap the garland around the chopstick- if you can, cut the garland into 2 pieces per table and when you wrap them make the tails go out to two different sides of the stick.

Cover the top of the plastic bags with anything from jelly beans to flower packets whatever you can find really cheap. You don't have to fill the pot, just camoflage the top of the plastic. If you can't find the garland type at the dollar store, look for flowers with multiple stems that you can split between 2 centerpieces. Single flowers will cut into your cost... You can even use fake ivy going up the stick and just put a few well placed flowers over the candy... The trick is color, on the pots and with what candy & flowers you use. good luck..Lia

How about cooking up a batch of flower-shaped cookies or round cookies and ice a flower on. Bake these on a popsicle stick and wrap in plastic wrap with a green bow on each cookie stick and possibly another on the terra cotta pots.

Quite a bit of work but not too expensive.

hi there i used to be a florist and if these pots are smaller i would go to the dollar tree if you have in your area and buy some hydrangeas they are on a bush and ya get a few put one in each pot and maybe find some cheap ribbon there or raffia and put one in each pot 1 flower head should be enough and the leaves are usually nice so it will fill in nicely just a suggestion plus spring colors are out now
