Ironed Polyester Residue On White Shirt?

The iron setting was too hot when it was placed on a pair of polyester gym pants. The iron, of course, melted a little bit of the pants and left some of the polyester on the iron. When my daughter used the iron on a white shirt, what was left of the black residue melted on to the shirt. How do we get that off?

You can try to scrape the black residue off the top of the shirt's fabric very gently with a razor blade or other very sharp edge. This will work if the spot isn't too big and if it is only on the top of the fabric...Be careful not to cut the shirt while you are doing it.
