Homemade Acne Cream Recipes

January 27, 2014

I used to have really bad acne. My mom always told me to apply toothpaste to my acne, let dry and wash off but that sometimes drys out my skin. My sister always stirred egg white until it was frothy and put it on her face until it dried, then the same with the egg yolk immediately after. That never worked for me. So I tried several different home remedies and finally found one that's rather cheap and very effective.

Supplies:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • cocoa butter lotion
  • toothpaste (about the size of a nickel)
  • a dash of flour

Directions:

  • Mix it all together and apply to your entire face. Wash your face with warm water in about 30 minutes.
  • I was amazed with the results. I hope this works for you. Good luck!

I want to get rid of acne on my arms and face, but the acne products are too much. Is there a simple and easy way to get rid of acne fast?

Go to the pharmacy or dollar store and buy a bottle of witch hazel and a bag of cotton balls or cotton pads (I prefer the pads). Morning and night, after washing your face with a regular cleanser or gentle soap, PAT (not rub) face, chest, and arms dry then wet a cotton pad with the witch hazel (until almost drippy, not just slightly). Pat all areas with acne and any 'oily' areas until well moistened. Allow the witch hazel to air dry thoroughly. The redness should disappear in a day or two and the blemishes will begin to dry in a couple of more days.

(Get someone else to pat down your back or wet a washcloth with the WH and do your best.)

Witch Hazel will not dry the skin like alcohol and is often used as an astringent. With continued use, it will eliminate most acne except for severe outbreaks (mine were brought on by stress - exam times, long work days, deadlines, etc.) and it reduced those to spots rather than regions. Good luck.

I just read that dabbing unfiltered apple cider vinegar with a cotton ball works also. The article said it was available at health food stores, but I'll bet that the apple cider vinegar at grocery stores will work just as well.

    Good luck!

Really, if there was any home remedy that actually worked there would not be expensive remedies and prescription drugs. If you have severe acne, go to a doctor, and get the proper meds. If you have less severe acne, consult with a pharmacist about the best over the counter remedies. Use them faithfully, and they will work very well. Home remedies don't actually work well at all, no matter what anybody on here will tell you.

Yes, if you have redness try visine eye drops, also crush up aspirin and wet apply to your face leave on 10 min and remove. Use baking soda mixed with water as a paste and apply leave on 10 min and wash off.

Also try cleaning your face with rubbing alcohol but be careful it can cause dry skin.

Another thing you might try... fill your bathtub up with water and add 1/4 cup of bleach (clorox) to the water and bathe in it. It helped my son.

You could make a oatmeal mask with oatmeal if you have that ore honey and cinnamon cream .

I would like to find a homemade remedy for bad acne.

When you go to a dollar store you will find a very inexpensive product called "Witch Hazel" sold in the first aid department of the store. Witch Hazel is the main ingredient in Pro-Active, which is sold as a somewhat pricey acne remedy. You will also find facial scrubs in the dollar store that contain oatmeal or almond meal. These scrubs will help to exfoliate your skin and get rid of all the dead skin cells that are clogging up your pores.

Twice a day, you should clean your face with a facial scrub, and then after you dry your face, you should apply the Witch Hazel with a clean cotton ball or cotton round (also sold in the Dollar store). I would avoid putting lotions or moisturizing creams on you face as these can sometimes contain products that can clog your pores and make your acne problem worse.

The one cleanser I recommend is baby shampoo to wash your face & neck. It is specially made to remove oil from hair & will cleanse any oil/grease from your skin. It has no harsh chemicals. If you have long hair which swirls around your face it will leave oil on your skin which contributes to the problem.

It will take some time but you should see some relief with the problem. Also per the previous hint I do recommend the witch hazel highly.

If you have bad acne, there is NO homemade remedy that is going to work very well. Go to a doctor and get proper medication. There are wonderful prescriptions that will cure the acne. There is no need to suffer with it. Bad acne can permanently scar your skin. Don't fool around with it. If you have mild acne, go to your druggist and see what they have non-prescription that works.

I am sorry to say, contrary to the previous posters, that if home remedies actually worked, there would not have been the need to develop prescription products that actually do work.

Witch hazel use probably helped when I was a teen-aged sufferer. But the things that really helped were free:

*Keep hands clean all of the time, keep hands away from the face unless hands are very clean.

*Splash face frequently with plain cool water, pat dry.

My face cleared up in junior high and I never had a problem again by following those simple rules. Certainly I had the occasional break-out but the clean hands and frequent cool rinses really turned those break-outs around in a half-heartbeat.

My son developed severe acne at around the same age as I'd done (12-13), I passed on the clean hands-cool rinse tip, and his face cleared up too. His doctor had wanted to put him on a prescription medication because as she said 'It's easy to remember'.

LOL, I said 'So is remembering to keep hands clean, and pop into the restroom three or four times a day to rinse the face!' (Cheaper too, wowsa is that prescription expensive!)

Several years ago my son joined the Marines. While he was in boot camp the boys were expected to be acne free. I am looking for the recipe for the concoction they used. It is a mixture of three ingredients. My son says that they used Aqua Velva after shave and two other things.

They put it into a large jar and soaked cotton balls in the mixture. Each night the boys took a cotton ball from the jar and washed their face. No more acne! Does anyone know the recipe?

Acne is due to internal, endocrinological factors. External treatments address the symptoms only and will not cure acne.

Sorry, Faye. If I knew a recipe, which, when applied nightly, would result in 'no more acne', I would not share it with you nor anyone. I would have it patented and make my first billion $.

Since you brought up the subject, I would remember you most generously in my will.

I served in the United States Marine Corps (1986-1994) and the recipe we used in the huge glass mayonaise jar was (1) Mennen Skin Bracer COOL SPICE, (2) rubbing alcohol, (3) peroxide, and (4) cotton balls. The Mennen Skin Bracer COOL SPICE is not being manufactured anymore but the smell is outstanding and it's a real man smell that drives real women loco. I never had acne while using this concoction and I still don't. It's cheap, except for the rare Mennen Skin Bracer COOL SPICE. I have the original Mennen Skin Bracer COOL SPICE for sale for $110.00 5 oz bottle. I hope this helps. --Dr. J. Kremblas, USMC (1986-1994).
