I am looking for a natural rapid hair growth solution for a black African lady. My hair is very short of about 1 cm long and I want it to grow very long without using chemicals. How can I grow my hair very long without perming it, what home remedies will help me best to grow it very long?

Hair grows at about 1/2 inch per month. Nothing you put on it will make it grow faster. Nothing you eat, drink, or take will make it grow faster. Perms, shampoos, oils - none of them will make your hair grow faster.
Is it true that if you get olive oil and massage it all over your hair and leave it over night your hair grows faster and thicker? Please help.
By Amy
What applying oil to your hair will do is help keep any growth you get, by reducing breakage. Likewise healthy food can help make your hair stronger, so you don't lose what you've gained.
I had really badly split ends, so the person cutting my hair said I should cut it up to my shoulders to get rid of them. So I did, and I really miss my long hair. How can I make it grow faster and healthier? How often should I cut it? Please answer.

Lyonpridej, what are you taking to get your hairline back? Mine has receded terribly and I don't know what steps to take to get it back.
I have recently had to have chemo, which caused me to lose all of my hair. Does anyone know of any tricks on how to get your hair to grow back faster?

What can I do to make my natural hair grow faster, healthier, and long?
By Diane from Kampala, Uganda
Healthy hair comes from within. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy well balanced diet. Hair is a dead appendage once it leaves the hair follicle at your scalp so you must be gentle with it and your hair is not going to grow any faster than genetically pre-disposed which, for the majority of humans on the planet, is 1/2 inch per month.
If I dyed my hair a lot and got split ends and then I got a Mohawk with a ducktail and now it won't grow what do I do?
By Adrian C.
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for growing hair or repairing damaged hair. First, you need to be very careful about how you treat it. Stop using any harsh products on your hair. Avoid gels/sprays with alchohol. Use shampoo for dry/damaged hair and a good conditoner. You should also try not to die it anymore until it grows out. Be gentle when you brush/comb so as not to cause more split ends. Continue to get regular trims. I know this sounds like the opposite of what you should do but regular trims keep split ends from getting worse. Good nutrition will help over time. They also make a daily vitamine especially designed to promote hair and nail growth. If you must color your hair while it's growing out, try a semi-perminate color. It will not be able to lighten your hair, only darken it, but depending on the kinds of colors you've been using it may be able to blend your roots a bit.
What oils make hair and fingernails grow faster?
By Sethy
I hate to be a wet blanket, but I don't believe any of this. I think you can make your hair and nails healthier if you are deficient in some vitamins or have had health problems, but I don't believe you can make hair or nails grow any faster no matter what you do.
I live in Sri Lanka so it's very hard to get extensions. I am eager to know how grow the hair very fast. I have naturally thick hair. I want to grow my hair longer in 3 days at least. I would like to know how to grow the hair 1cm a day. Please help.

Is there a good shampoo to help your hair grow faster?
By RL
Deeli is absolutely correct. Hair and nails grow at a steady pace, and there is nothing you can do to make them grow faster. Any internet site that tells you otherwise is spouting nonsense.
I want to know if I can find a product that can grow my hair in only one month.
My type of hair is the one like the African American type black hair. Please give me an answer, about my hair very fast.

I read on here that Listerine is useful in promoting hair growth. Does anyone know what kind to use (ie mint, etc)? Also if you're familiar with this could you please walk me through a step by step as to how to apply the Listerine? Thanks a bunch.
By Sadie Lynn from USA
What are you all talking about is a candida over-growth. The Listerine & the vinegar will both kill it, but if your scalp has it, you'd do better to attack it from the inside. Candida can cause many awful things. The least of which is a bad scalp. I'd look up on the net, candida signs & symptoms, then see if anything else fits. It isn't something you want to ignore.
I was wondering if there was a fast and easy way to get my hair to grow longer and faster. Also, is there a way to curl my hair without heat and special products?

Hair grows at its own rate - about 1/2 an inch a month, I think. There is nothing you can do to make it grow faster. Nothing.
You can set your wet hair on rollers, and dry it with a hair dryer like they used to years ago, or just let it air dry. If you want a permanent curl, you have to get a perm, and the home perms work fine, but, of course, they are stinky.
A curling iron is by far the simplest method to curl your hair. I preferred a butane one, but electric is good.
I'm a boy and I have short hair, lets say 5 inches. Can somebody please tell me how I can grow my hair longer, like at least 3-6 inches longer before the beginning of October? Please and thank you.

Massaging the scalp really helps as everyone says: increased blood flow will help. Getting a trim to get rid of damaged hair is one of the best things that helps, stop the damage before it gets all the way down to your roots. Following these steps will help you greatly and I hope you get that sweet long hair soon. (10/19/2008)

If you do have health issues, and especially if you take medications, talk to your doctor about possibly using B2 or B Complex which will help regulate metabolism. (02/28/2011)
