Can anyone tell me how often you should have acrylic nails removed? I have had them now for about seven months and was told in July that I needed to have them taken off and a new set put on which I did.

What is useful for fingernails that continue to chip and split?
For 1 year, my fake nail has been over my own nail. The doctor said it will grow out, but it has been a year. My friend said go to another doctor and see about having my finger numbed around the area and cut cuticle and separate the fake nail and my own nail.
I have dry, hard cuticles in the summer and in Florida, no less! I've done the topical application of oils, Chapstick, gloves and socks at night and it works temporarily. But I'm thinking what's the cause?
Use Yarn Instead of Cotton Balls
I have discovered a better way to remove nail polish then using cotton balls. I have wadded up a bit of yarn until it was like a little ball and wet it with nail polish remover and it worked better.
My nails grow long then they always break very low near the cuticle. It is always a horizontal break and it's halfway across my nail bed. I cut it down as low as I can, but the break is still there. I was wondering if there was any nail repair that would help?
