I have just purchased three dozen Egg-lands Best large eggs. Given the recent, nationwide egg recall, how do I interpret the numbers and letters on the end of the carton to see if these are safe? What is a Julian date and where would I find that?

Cheese Recall in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana

Routine surveillance by the Indiana State Board of Animal Health's Dairy Division revealed high levels of staphylococcus aureus (or "staph") in several raw milk cheeses manufactured by Grassy Meadows dairy of Howe, Ind. Because of the facility's location, consumers in Ohio and Michigan, as well as Indiana, should also check their refrigerators for these items.

Campbell Voluntarily Recalls Campbell's Chunky Baked Potato With Cheddar & Bacon Bits

Campbell Soup Company is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of 18.8 ounce cans of "Campbell's Chunky" Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits because they may contain pieces of hard plastic that present a choking hazard and may cause injury if swallowed. Three consumers have reported minor injuries in and around the mouth.

This product may be contaminated with Salmonella, (a bacterium that causes foodborne illness).

Symptoms of foodborne illness caused by Salmonella include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In persons with poor underlying health or weakened immune systems, Salmonella can invade the bloodstream and cause life-threatening infections.
