Craft Project: Quick Table Decoration
We recently had a work function and I needed to make some quick table decorations, without breaking the bank in the process, and within a limited amount of time. Here's how I managed to do this!
I bought plastic top-hats at a discount party store for about $1.00 each, punched a small hole in the top, and used curling ribbon to anchor gold balloons to the hat.
For my high school reunion, I made a centerpiece using a few stacked "presents" wrapped in graduation-themed paper and ribbon in our school colors. My presents were empty, but you could put anything you want in them, especially if the party is for an individual.
I used scrapbook paper in my school colors to make a paper-airplane centerpiece. I made about twelve airplanes and glued them to chopsticks. I spray painted a leftover flower vase with chalkboard paint.
Craft: Shabby Chic Christmas Centerpiece
I already had an old pitcher filled with pink silk roses. To make it more festive, I simply tucked in some gold colored trim from AC Moore (about a buck a piece).
Craft Project: Fall Candle Display
Fall candle holder made from every day items. First, glue the clay pot upside down onto the dinner plate, then glue the butter bowl bottom side down on to clay pot then glue saucer onto butter bowl.
Craft Project: Vintage China Pin Cushions
I have an annoying habit of picking up orphaned sugar bowls, creamers, and little teapots that have no lids, as well as old planters too small for plants and vintage fabric scraps too small for anything. in hopes of finding creative uses for them.
CD Cake Toppers Or Centerpieces
I decided to recycle old scratched up or non-useable CD's. So I made these into centerpieces and cake toppers and sell them for extra money. Each one is different and one of a kind or sometimes I have doubles of some figurines.
Craft Project: Cinco de Mayo Centerpiece
These cute, inexpensive sombreros may great centerpieces for Cinco de Mayo (May 5) or any Mexican themed party. They are very quick and easy to make.
Floral Graduation Centerpieces
I made topiaries using silk flowers in the school colors. (Real flowers would be great too.) The silks had long, thick stems and I tied them 3/4 of the way to the blooms with ribbon in a school color also. Used a decorative pot, put small rocks in the bottom (for weight) and a small block of floral or styrofoam to hold flowers, then finished pot off with moss.

Craft Project: Jar Candle Holder
A way to use an old canning jar to display your collections.
Here's a nice decoration using faux apples, floral moss, silk ivy and a tin pail.
"Bloomin' Straws" Bouquet for Mother's Day!
The part that takes the longest on this craft is the cutting, but once the cutting is finished, the "flower arranging" is easy and fun.
Make your own valentine tabletop tree decoration. I have tabletop tree that I decorate for each holiday. Obviously for Christmas it has small Christmas ornaments; however, I thought it was so cute I wanted to change it for each holiday or season.
Seaside In A Bowl
Pumpkin Face Centerpiece made from a mayo jar.
Noah's Ark and Animals from Clay Pots
Here is a cute Noah's Ark and animals made from 5 inch and 1 inch clay pots.
I enjoy decorating for the month of July because my son and husband's birthdays are in July (5th and 27th). I decorate my table by putting a white lace tablecloth as the bottom layer, a red checked tablecloth as the next layer, an American Flag scarf in the center; the centerpiece is:
It's amazing what a little creativity and imagination can do with some very simple items. The sponge mobile is a fun project for a rainy afternoon with kids. Depending on how it's hung or stood, the dancing butterflies, hearts and stars can play above a cradle or stand in the middle of a kid's birthday party table.
