Sewing a Woman's Skirt

November 5, 2012

Sewing a woman's skirt. You can make a skirt in 10 minutes. You need a tee shirt big enough to fit over the hips, a pair of scissors, needle, and thread.

Pull the tee shirt up over your body to make sure it is big enough. If the neck stretches enough to fit over you, you need do nothing else.

If you need the waist (former neckline) to be bigger, cut a slit in each side along the shoulder seam. When it fits you, overcast 10 stitches at the end of each slit so it will not rip further.

If sleeves are long, cut off at elbow level and sew the ends shut. If sleeves are short, sew the ends shut.

Put on your tee skirt, tuck the sleeves inside as your pockets, and wear your new skirt. Try this with a tee from the thrift shop to make a great summer skirt. If you use a sweatshirt, it makes a winter skirt.
