Make your own beautiful dried flowers. Simply hang fresh flowers in your front room on a plant hook, leave for about two or three weeks. Voila! Beautiful flowers.
When my kids were little, money was sparse, and we lived way out in the backwoods. There was little, if any, activities we could afford. We did discover one, however, that may sound a little morbid at first, but is actually wonderful.
Does anyone know how to preserve cattails so they last longer? Thank you.
I keep my fresh flowers longer by putting them in stones I've collected at the beach. The jar is decorated with rub on decals. When flowers die, I clean off rocks, add shells and leave it.
Save Extra Paper Petals for Confetti
When you're making flowers using paper sculpting or paper quilling and find that you have extra petals, hold onto them and use them as confetti at your next party. They're much easier to sweep up.
Recycle Plastic Lemons as a Vase
I emptied this little lemon juice container and thought of using it for my kitchen counter with a few fresh flowers from the yard. I usually have something blooming year round, so a bloom or two brightens my day.
Preserve Fresh Bouquets for Potpourri
Last December our mother passed away and we received many beautiful fresh flower bouquets. After the service, my sister and I took all the flowers home, remarking how beautiful they were and what a shame they would die.
My daughter will be a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding later this year. The bride wants us to save rose petals for the guests to throw instead of confetti. How can I dry them without losing their color?
Have you ever needed a certain color of artificial flower for a project and you couldn't find that color (Like blue for example) anywhere? I've come up with a solution for flowers that don't need to be washed.

When it's pumpkin time and you have flowers in your yard, why not use your pumpkin to display a bouquet of flowers on your porch or doorstep? I had a lot of marigolds which were still blooming so I arranged them in the hollowed out pumpkin. You can place a jar of water into the pumpkin so your arrangement will last a lot longer.
I recently attended a wedding and brought a lot of the roses home. I want to make a rose wreath with the roses and surprise the bride. Tips for keeping the color? I am planning on drying them upside down in a dark closet to keep the shape and then spray them with hairspray to keep them firm so they won't get powdery. Anyone got any ideas on how to put this together so it looks nice? Maybe a picture of something they've seen. Or a good website I can get some ideas from? Thanks in advance.
Leave Vase Outside When Arranging Flowers
My husband is always complaining about finding little creatures walking on the table after I put out a vase of flowers. So now, what I do is, I let the vase sit outside for about 30 minutes before I bring it in. By then all the little bugs have gone elsewhere. Also, when I arrange my flowers I do it outside with newspaper underneath for the cuttings. That way I can roll it all up and throw it out without any mess in the house.
Keeping Hydrangea Blooms for Months of Enjoyment
Keep hydrangea bloom colors bright for months of enjoyment. I have some wonderful hydrangeas that would bloom for several weeks then the blooms would dry on the branch and the colors would fade. But several years back I came up with an idea that prolongs my hydrangea blooms for months.
Using Dried Lavender For Your Wedding
My daughter is crafty and she was able to buy a huge amount of high quality - semi dried lavender, on eBay for less then $100.00 total. She was able to make table decorations with the lavender by binding a large bunch together with wire and then ribbons. They sat on the tables. Because they were dryish, they were able to stand up without vases. They looked good and smelled wonderful. The fresh flowers also included the dried lavender.
There are a wide range of flowers that are edible, such as begonias, sunflowers, roses, violets and gardenias. Not only can the petals be washed and used in salads or as garnish, but they can also be combined with sugar and a little food color to make a delicately flavored enhancement for teas, baked goods and desserts.
