Attaching Seashells to Plywood
How do I prepare plywood to attach seashells to it and what type of adhesive (glue) can I use? Also, what kind of glue should I use to attach shells to shells?
I would like suggestions on how to cut sea shells. I have some small conch shells I want to cut like coins. I have a craft project in mind for them. I have seen it already done in stores so I know it is possible. Thanks for any suggestions.
I would like to put up a number of bird feeders this winter (got a fantastic deal on bird feed) and would like some ideas of building and making good feeders that are cheap and as "natural" looking as possible.
I am looking for ideas to use blue crab shell and clam shells. Someone told me you could make santas from the crab shells. Any ideas with photos will be appreciated and used!
I make and sell dish gardens. The first picture is an old pressed, clear glass bird cage feeder. In it I put little hens and chicks and and English daisy.

Au Natural Jewelry is all about using natural material like wood, natural fibers and shells where possible. The look is relaxed. Rather informal. Very spontaneous.

I'm making my mother a sea shell wind chime for Mother's Day. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could put a small hole in the shells without breaking them?
A little while back, I saw where someone told how to make large pine cones into bird feeders. It said to roll the pine cones in something? and then in bird seed. Can you please tell me exactly how to do this?
Killing Insects On Natural Decorations
Whenever you bring any natural stuff like pine cones or twigs into the house to use as decor, put them on a foil lined baking sheet in the oven at 200-250 degrees for 30 minutes to kill any hitchhiking insects.
Need Pinecones For Decorations? Go To The Park
Go to a local park where the pine cone droppings are yours for free. Bring a basket and fill it up. Bring them home and hot glue them on a wreath or spray them with gold or silver paint. Your choices of what to do with them are endless. By joesgirl
Preparing Branches and Pine Cones for Crafts
I want to make some craft projects using outdoor items but would prefer to not bring bugs into my house when I do. What do you guys do to make sure that bugs aren't still on outdoor items for crafts? Thanks, Melissa from OR
Start with a 3"x3" square block of wood, about 1-2 inches deep. Paint it out with light (off-white, cream, eggshell, etc.) colored craft paint. If you have the tools, drill a 2" diameter circle or the diameter of a pillar candle you have on hand. Use glossy or satin finish varnish to seal the paint. Glue small seashells, covering the wood square. You can then begin to glue shells on top of shells to build up the holder. I try to create a wreath effect. Makes a beautiful and classy gift. By Hache
Inexpensive Seashell Picture Frame
I've bought picture frames (with wide borders) from the Good Will or other thrift stores. I use craft paint (any color) to paint them and then a satin varnish. Then I hot glue a variety of shells to the frame. I use shells I pick up at my beach and the frames cost only a couple dollars.
Bring a little bit of autumn indoors. Family and friends help create this wreath by sharing what they are thankful for on brightly colored leaves. Every member of the family can contribute to this beautiful wreath. This is a great, concrete, visual way to put meaning back in the holidays for children.
Killing Off Insects Before Making Crafts With Outdoor Items
Before using any natural stuff like pinecones or seed pods you have gathered in holiday decor, line a shallow pan with foil and put them into the oven at 200 degrees for about 45 minutes. This will kill any insects living inside. You don't want uninvited guests crawling onto your holiday table. By Linda
If you are looking for some inexpensive, easy crafts for your kids this Halloween, head out to your backyard to start the fun. Have the kids hunt around for different shaped rocks. Long, slender rocks for ghosts, oval shapes for spiders, and just about any stout rock will make a great pumpkin!
It's the season here for pine cones, acorns, walnuts, wild flowers, thistles, cattails, etc., these are all things found in nature that we can collect (for free!), then dry or preserve, and save for use in our winter crafts.
