I had such a hard time getting my grandson to eat his oatmeal or cream of wheat. I finally shook a little colored sugar sprinkles on top and poof, the oatmeal was gone. Each time we have hot cereals, I pick a different color and just sprinkle enough to make it pretty!

Add Peanut Butter to Oatmeal

I make instant oatmeal for breakfast several times a week. I've started adding a tablespoon of peanut butter after it's been cooked. I stir it in with a little bit of milk. It tastes delicious, and adds a little boost nutritionally. My kids absolutely love it!

For breakfast cereal, I try and stretch out the "good stuff" with some more healthy stuff. For instance, I buy a box or bag of Fruity Pebble-type cereal. Once I put this into our rubbermaid type cereal container, I put in some Rice Krispies-type cereal.

Instant Oatmeal Alternative

My daughter likes oatmeal for breakfast but the packets are way too expensive so I have taught her to put the right amount of regular oatmeal into her bowl, microwave the right amount of water until it boils and pour the water into the bowl on the countertop. Stir, let rest a minute and add cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, milk, fruit-whatever you like and stir.
