Sprinkle Colored Sugar on Hot Cereals for Kids
I had such a hard time getting my grandson to eat his oatmeal or cream of wheat. I finally shook a little colored sugar sprinkles on top and poof, the oatmeal was gone. Each time we have hot cereals, I pick a different color and just sprinkle enough to make it pretty!
I make instant oatmeal for breakfast several times a week. I've started adding a tablespoon of peanut butter after it's been cooked. I stir it in with a little bit of milk. It tastes delicious, and adds a little boost nutritionally. My kids absolutely love it!
Oatmeal for a Healthy Breakfast
Oatmeal is a daily consumption around here. Watching calories is also a trend. If you use the 'quick' oats in the microwave, you will only add about 50 calories to that mix as it cooks by putting 7 little marshmallows on top. The Oatmeal is 150 calories and the marshmallows (7) are 50 calories.
For breakfast cereal, I try and stretch out the "good stuff" with some more healthy stuff. For instance, I buy a box or bag of Fruity Pebble-type cereal. Once I put this into our rubbermaid type cereal container, I put in some Rice Krispies-type cereal.
Make Up A Loaf Of French Toast For Later
A quick, easy and appreciated breakfast is to make up a whole loaf of French toast. Let it cool and rebag it in the breadsack.
This tip is for use when camping outdoors. Get a ziplock bag, add a few eggs (w/o shell) into the bag, add shredded cheese, chopped onions, etc., whatever you like in your omelets.
How do you brown your pancakes? I cook mine in a nonstick Farberware skillet with one tablespoon of vegetable oil but I can't seem to get it to brown on both sides. Maybe my skillet is the problem because it is old and worn.
Top Pancakes With Applesauce Mixed With Syrup
My kids love to have pancakes or French toast for breakfast pretty often. My only concern is the amount of syrup that they eat along with the main course. We started making our own syrup from fresh fruit when available, but there's still a lot of sugar in it.
Why You Should Eat A Complete Breakfast Every Day
From when I was a child, I kept hearing the same words over and over, "Part of this complete breakfast". Now I'm an adult and have just recently truly paid attention to those words. I used to be one to skip breakfast altogether, but can't anymore as I'm now working out at the gym. I've got to thinking, "What IS a complete breakfast?"

Quick Breakfasts for Busy Moms
About twelve years ago, I was on a mission to find the easiest and most convenient way to satisfy my children's hungry appetites. At that time, my fourth child was born, and she was only 15 months younger than the next in line. I had a newborn, a toddler, a five year old, and a nine year old.
While preparing breakfast items (eggs, toast, etc.) rather than use the oven to warm serving plates, use the top of the, "Mr. Coffee" or other, as a plate warmer. Saves energy, time and money.
If you like fruit flavored pancakes from a mix you can use orange juice or other fruit juices in place of milk.
Oatmeal Instead of Cold Cereal
Save money by serving Oatmeal for breakfast instead of expensive cold cereal. The store brands of oatmeal are excellent and are on sale often...
Jazz up yogurt, with maple syrup, then add some granola and fruit and drizzle on more syrup...
f your kids prefer sweetened cereals, go ahead and purchase it. But for every box of sweet cereal, purchase a cereal that's not sweetened and mix the 2 boxes together, so that your kids will have the sweetened taste they love but not all the sugar.
Making Orange Juice Easier on the Tummy
Orange juice is, for some people, hard on the tummy in the morning, I add 2 cups of water to a gallon of juice. It still tastes great, but it's easier on the tummy.

My daughter likes oatmeal for breakfast but the packets are way too expensive so I have taught her to put the right amount of regular oatmeal into her bowl, microwave the right amount of water until it boils and pour the water into the bowl on the countertop. Stir, let rest a minute and add cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, milk, fruit-whatever you like and stir.
I have high cholesterol and want to start eating oatmeal daily, but the instant is not effective in lowering it. Has anyone tried making oatmeal in a large batch and then freezing it in single serving sizes to reheat in the morning?
