Finding a Family Circle 4th of July Decoration from the 1980s
I would like the instructions for a 4th of July decoration that was in Family Circle magazine prior to July 1984. It consisted of making a drum with poster board and Styrofoam then covering Styrofoam balls with fabric.

Make an American flag from an old car tag. Spray paint the tag (license plate) using either red or white. That way you will only have to paint one set of stripes. Let dry. Paint on your blue background for stars, let dry. Paint on your other colored stripes, let dry.

Here's a fun little wind chime your kids will love to make and hang for their Fourth of July Celebration. Place a line of masking tape around the blue plastic disposable cup, 2 - 2 1/2 inches from the bottom. The tape will prevent the cup from splitting when it is cut.

These candle holders are made from clay pots. Paint the pots and saucers in patriotic colors, let dry, then stencil on stars or stripes or free hand it. Just use your imagination. Let dry. Seal if you like, then put in candles.
Here I would like to share an idea that really uses something that most people have or can easily come by and that makes a beautiful decoration for your garden. The instructions are easy and it is not really messy; so it is even something that older children or teenagers might like to do.
This cute little pin is easy to make and fun to wear in celebration of the holiday. Trace the heart pattern on both the blue craft foam and blue felt. Trace the star pattern on the white craft foam. Cut these three shapes out.
