Birds swarm on our feeds by batches, and peck on our fruit bearing trees. A scarecrow is nothing to them, an idea came when I placed tiny stones on empty pet bottles, tried hanging them on a clothesline connecting to our house.

I have several wire feeders that I put suet cakes in during the Winter to feed the birds. Just as nesting season comes, I fill them with cut hair, colored pieces of string or yarn, dryer lint and shredded paper strips.

Garden: Marigolds
