Growing Cucumbers in Containers
I would like to plant cucumbers in a container. What kind of container should I use? Should it be big and tall like a 5 gallon bucket or short and small like a dish pan. I am growing the small cukes. Thank you.
Planting Tomatoes in Milk Jugs
I plant my tomatoes in the bottom of milk jugs, with another plant on top such as peppers, and eggplants. I also made two milk jugs into a self watering planter for my strawberries, and used drink bottles to make a self watering, mini green house for the rose cuttings I'm propagating.
Transplanting Vegetable Plants into Larger Pots
My vegetable plants are too large for the pots I planted them in. How can I put them in a larger pot without killing them ? I have tomato, bell pepper, and squash.
I have hanging baskets with tomato plants. How often should I water them?

I want to grow mint in a container outdoors above ground, but I'm concerned about winter storage. There is no room in the apartment, will it winter in a shed with protection? If so, what steps can be taken?
Flowers for Apartment Container Garden
I live in an apartment and would like to plant some summer flowers that are easy to grow, like geraniums, in a pot and put them on the porch. I have a very small closed in porch and only have room for about 2 large pots and maybe also hang a rectangular one on the banister (handrail).
Any ideas what to use to line window boxes?
I moved to a small flat last November. I have started to try and grow herbs in containers. I was given some beetroot seeds. Would I be able to grow these in containers, too? Many thanks.

Getting Started With Container Gardening
I live in a town house so space is limited, I love to garden and tried a little last year with very little luck. I need help figuring out the best plants, and vegetables to plant in pots, and a small dirt patch (about 1' x 4').
This is a so simple idea that I saw the other day that I could kick myself for not using it all these years. When planting in any container with a hole in the bottom and you don't want the dirt or whatever to come out, use a coffee filter.
I use homemade papier mache pots for my seedlings, but I don't use salt in the paste mix. Can I use salt to prevent mold or will it kill the plants?

The leaves on the hydrangea potted plant outdoors are turning yellow. Is the cause of this under watering? Will it flower next year?

Recycling Items for Drainage Fill in Plant Containers
Those lightweight plastic cups that flowers are sold in - I recycle them by using them for drainage when I transplant the flowers into terra cotta pots. I flatten them somewhat with my foot, and put them in the bottom of the pot. Then I add the soil and the flowers.
Planning ahead for the seasons can add challenges to spring planting. Instead of planting each season, plant now to create an entire yearly display for much less than you'll pay to replant it each season. Why pay money to purchase plants and then throw them away?

Three Reasons Container Plants Fail
When a container plant suddenly collapses for no visible reason, finding out what happened may require a bit of detective work. A lot goes on below the surface of the soil, and the answer often has to do with the plant's roots.
