The green movement is in full swing, and while it might be great for our planet, it might not be so great for our wallets. A growing concern involves e-cycling, recycling electronic products which seep chemical poisons into the ground beneath the dumps. There is a way to responsibly recycle e-products without breaking the bank. Think of e-cycling as "economic recycling" and save the planet.
While reading my ThriftyFun newsletter and leaving an answer for someone regarding less expensive Christmas shopping, an idea popped into my head.
Where Do the Old Ink Cartridges and Cell Phones Go?
Has anyone ever heard of a place called 'Recycling Center' in Franklin, TN? They give you a postage paid plastic bag and you send them your old ink jet cartridges or cell phones. How are they recycled? Who gets them? If it's for charity, schools, senior centers, etc... fine. But if they're going to resell them to the general public, no. Does anyone know how this place works?
Since dryer lint is mostly organic material, it is great for the compost pile.

Reuse Old Carpet and Area Rugs
Old carpet and rugs that are still in decent condition make a nice addition to a porch, laundry room, or even in the garage in front of a tool bench. If you can't use it, maybe you know someone who can.
Buying and Selling Used Carpet

Twelve Ways to Get Rid of Your Old Books
As a writer (and literary packrat), I periodically find my nightstand and the shelves of my office bookcases sagging under the weight of enormous stacks of books. If you're like me and your bookshelves are about to buckle under the strain of unused books, here are some ideas for lightening your literary load.
Make a File Box from a Detergent Box
I transformed a family size Tide detergent box into a file box. I attached teabag envelopes to the outside to indicate the contents of the box. I put ribbons through the handle...

Uses for "International Coffee" Containers
My aunt drinks "International Coffee" drinks which come in those nifty little square tins w/ plastic lids. She hates throwing them out, but just can't think of a clever use for them besides storing nuts and bolts. Let's be real - she only has so many nuts and bolts.
I have not worn my professional suits and cocktail dresses for many years. They are timelessly simple (chocolate chiffon, Chanel suits) and in perfect health. Every resale shop I have called will accept no clothing older than two years.
Save free bumper stickers, stickers to cut up and use for packing tape when you run out...
Need a (rubber) band, a head band, gift wrap or small tourniquet in a hurry? ...
I know a reader recently posted a question about wood ash, but I have a whole lot of coal ash, and am wondering if there are any good ideas for it? Thanks!
