Large Walls, Small Budget

Large Walls, but small budget?? I had an extremely large wall behind my couch with cathedral ceilings and couldn't afford to buy large pictures to "balance" the room. Instead, we purchased very inexpensive wood molding from Home Depot, mitered it and attached to walls with finishing nails. Painted the molding to blend with wall and put in a very "neutral" wallpaper.

Decorating on a Budget

I'm on a very tight budget, but still want my apartment to look nice! Here's one of the simple ways I've "decorated." I bought three bamboo plants (at about $2 each, I think), and then put them in a bright blue vase. The color contrast between the green bamboo and blue vase is striking, and for added color, I put two lavendar tealight holders that I received as a gift on either side of the vase (along with two blue picture frames).

Quick Curtains

Buy 8-10- plastic stick-on holders for hanging dish towels. Buy the same amount of dish towels. Put stick-ons above the window where you would like the curtain. Put the dish towels on the holders. Stick-ons stick immediately! So make sure it is where you want it before you stick it. I got these at the Dollar Tree. You can also grab one to use in an emergency situation. I buy extras to match for kitchen use. I also change the towels to a orange, red and yellow stripe for a different color look. I get lots of compliments.

Transforming Your Front Porch

A plain front porch can be transformed into a place of serenity and beauty with just a few simple touches. I found an old ladder in a junk pile and leaned it into the corner by my front door.
