Remove Unwanted Odor from Any Room or Vehicle
We bought a used minivan this winter and it was great. But now that it's getting warmer we can smell a bad odor, kind of like wet dog. What can we do to remove the stench? Thanks so much!

First, remove loose mold from outer coverings of upholstered articles, mattresses, rugs, and carpets by brushing with a broom. Do this outdoors, if possible, to prevent scattering mildew spores in the house. Wash broom before re-using.
If someone mistakingly uses a paper towel or newspaper for a coaster you may find youself with paper stuck to your furniture. Peel away as much of the paper as you can, then apply some olive oil to a clean rag. Apply the olive oil to the paper and the paper should remove easily.
An easy way to remove odor from hands is to NOT USE HOT WATER FIRST as it dialates the pores of the skin and the odor is sucked up into your flesh. Lather well first and start rinsing off above the lather; THEN you can use hot water if you like.
Removing Mildew From Paper and Books
In damp summer weather, keep papers and books as dry as possible to help control mold growth. If you have an enclosed bookcase, keep a small electric light lit continuously in the bookcase or use a chemical dehumidifier, keeping the doors closed as tightly as possible.
Keep closets, dresser drawers, basements--any place where mildew is likely to grow--as clean as possible. Soil on dirty articles can supply enough food for mildew to start growing when moisture and temperature are right. Greasy films, such as those that form on kitchen walls, also contain many nutrients for mildew-causing molds.
Mildew gets its food from the root system which works its way into the material on which it is growing. Mildew can only get its food from natural materials such as protein, cellulosic, etc. In a carpet the protein material would be wool, the cellulosic would be jute or cotton.

If you have permanent Markings or any stains on your wood, walls, or carpet try rubbing Joe's Hand Cleaner on the stain. My 5 year old had been making a project and he put permanent marking on my wood table and I put this product on it and it came right up. Try this and you will be amazed.
