These tables are an easy project and you could even get your kids to help. This can be done on plastic wood or glass. Find your self a pattern for a simple stain glass project. Geometric work best. Lots of patterns can be found on the internet. Trace your pattern on to your surface. Fill in your design with flat gems. I use silicone caulk as glue as it will stand up to outdoor use, wait 24 to 48 hours until glue is really dry and gems are firmly affixed. I like to use light color grout but you can use any color you like. Grout the flat marbles. Now you have a table you will get raves about. By Debra in Colorado
Take photos of your finished pages, then take the negatives or CD, vacuum seal them and place in your freezer. Your precious memories then may not be lost. By Mildred Ruckert
Buy some beautiful lace placemats or cut some from an old lace panel or from an old curtain. Lay out a piece of clear contact paper and cut it a little larger than the lace. Slowly peel the backing off the clear contact paper and adhere the lace. Now lay on some dried flowers or old pictures and ribbons and cover with another piece of contact paper. By Debra in Colorado
Using Dried Lily and Iris Leaves
The dry leaves left on irises and day lilies make great "ties" for holding things on autumn wreaths and they are so natural, they blend in too. By springmaid5
Making an Incense Burner with Shell Buttons
Try to think up ideas to make any little thing with items you may already have on hand. I needed an incense burner for stick incense. I had a bunch of nice-looking but mismatched shell buttons. Each was flat with 2 holes. Stack them up aligning the holes, largest one on the bottom, glue them together, and you have an interesting homemade incense burner. By Jayne
Beautiful Wooden Crochet Hook Caddy
Make a crochet caddy as a gift or for yourself.
These are quick and easy to make. You should be able to make quite a few while you watch TV. It is also easy enough for older Kids to make them. Hang them on your christmas tree, in your windows or tie on to packages.
Store Crayola Air Dry Clay in a Vacuum Bag
Crayola air dry clay comes in 2 sizes. The bag size is the smaller size yet still more than is needed sometimes. The extra could be sealed in a vacuum bag until needed again. It must be sealed or the clay will dry out from the exposed air. A perfect solution. By Mildred Ruckert
This clay is made from ordinary beach sand and is great for decorating cheap picture frames (I get wooden ones from the $1 store) to remember trips to the beach.
I made a hair wrap kind of like the "seen on TV" item . It required 1 hand towel (in the colors of my bathroom) which I bought on clearance. I made a pattern from the store-bought one, sew right sides together and add an elastic loop near the top. Turn right side out, loop should be outside. Wrap wet hair and tuck the end into the loop. Use a medium to lightweight towel. I just hang the towel wrap on a hook in my bathroom and its always dry by the next day. Wouldn't this make a great gift! By Linda
I thought this was sorta cute! I just thought they made nice little scrubbing brushes! melody_yesterday
Decoupage candle instructions.
Découpage is a very accessible craft for beginners but can also be taken to artistic heights. In fact serious découpage artists are known as découpeurs (sometimes spelled "decoupers"). There is a National Guild of Découpeurs (NGD). NGD is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education in the art of découpage, to encouraging a high level of quality, and to offering an exchange of creative ideas.
This past weekend, I went on an excursion to the craft store with my daughter. Boy, what a way to have creativity spark within your children as well as yourself. >Ideas come from nowhere just walking through the aisles. Bottomline, we worked on snowmen and what wonderful snowmen they are! Instructions are as follows:
Next time you take your kids out for a walk or you visit your local craft store, get yourself some pine cones. Take plain old white glue and coat just the tips of the pine cones. Take silver, gold or the new irridescent white glitter and sprinkle on the glue. These little trees look good bunched together on a table. You can also spray paint the pine cones and put in a big bowl with some Christmas balls and set out by your door. By Debra in Colorado
Do you remember the last time you were in someone's home that had an apple pie baking in the oven? Ahhh, the aromas of a fresh baked pie -- it is simply irresistible! Well, now you can recreate this delicious scent in your own home, or in the homes of your loved ones, by making scented apple wreaths. Scented apple wreaths are not hard to make, and the results are heavenly! Hang one of these on your wall and you will surely impress all of your guests.
You can make wonderful and unique bridal fan wedding favors, quickly and easily using just your printer and a few basic supplies.
When I have to replace a window shade I save the old one for my grandkids visits. Offer them crayons, colored pencils, paints and let them "go to town" with an artist flair. Happy Picasso. By joesgirl
A Word of Advice for a Beginning Crafter
Even though my site is fairly new, I have been getting letters from crafters looking for advice on how to get started selling their wares. I thought that this letter and my answer would be of interest to anyone beginning a new home business.
