Christmas Decorating Idea For Throw Pillows
To give your couch a cute decorative look for Christmas wrap your throw pillows in red, green, or plaid dish towels or fabrics and secure at back with safety pin, this will make them look like Christmas presents. You can even add gingham ribbons or wire ribbons that will hold a bow etc. By Melanie

Avoid Buying a Special Tree Disposal Bag
Instead of buying a special tree disposal bag, stand the tree stand on a large garden bag. Then put the tree skirt just goes over this. This will keep any excess water from splashing on the floor. At clean up time, remove the stand, pull the bag up and out you go. By Linda
Outdoor Decorations - "Paper" Chains
Make everlasting outdoor decorations by cutting plastic containers (like soda bottle, yogurt containers etc) into strips and stapling them into "paper chains". Parents will need to cut but even small kids can staple! By Linda
Take A Can Of Gold Spray Paint...
Add some glitz to your decorations with just a can of spray paint. Choose silver for a cool ice palace look or gold for a traditional gleam scheme.
Thanksgiving Use for Halloween Decorations
I have several Halloween decorations of pumpkins with faces, like planters, centerpieces etc. Simply turn them around to the backside and you have a plain pumpkin for display over Thanksgiving. By Havanagirl

Potted Christmas Trees - Is It Worth It?
Each holiday season, I think about getting a live, potted Christmas tree. I keep thinking that it would sure save a lot of money because we should be able to use it as a Christmas tree for a few years -- as long as I can keep it alive. Then when it grows too big to be a Christmas tree, we could either plant it in the yard, in the community or in the forest. But could I keep it alive?
Construction Paper Turkey Decorations

Still Have Whole Pumpkins? Make a Snowman!
Take 3 pumpkins - small, medium and large. Paint them with white poster paint. Hot glue them together like a snowman. Makes a cute decoration for porch or anywhere you wish. Paint facial features on the top pumpkin. Glue some buttons, made from styrofoam meat trays, down the front. Take a can, paint it black. Glue a paper plate painted black on bottom of the can for a top hat. Glue it to top pumpkin. After Christmas, if the pumpkins are still good, you could even peel off the outer layer, cook them and eat them. By Gladys Hill

Alternative to a Christmas Tree - Decorate House Plants
I'm not going to buy a tree for just myself this year. Instead, I am going to put all my twinkle lights in every houseplant (and that's a lot) I have. I may hang a few favorite ornaments with fishing line here and there or in the ficus. By Linda
This is a great Christmas present for people that you don't want to spend much money on or just to include with your Christmas cards. Take a family photo. Wallet size works best. Trim the perimeter of the picture with lace, sequins, rope, beads, ribbon or just construction paper. Glue the trim to the front of the picture (like a frame). Loop a small piece of ribbon on the top center of the picture and hot glue it to the back of picture. Completed, this makes a beautiful unique ornament for your tree. By Lora Lee
I always check the thrift stores for vine or styrofoam wreath bases. Add any sort of decoration you have on hand. I gather dried, wild flowers, pine cones, dried seed pods and dried stalks from plants. Using hot glue, or a good all purpose glue, attach them to bases in in shape I want. Add a nice bow. At one time I even placed small gourds, a small corn cob with a small scarecrow to empty middle. Any seasonal item makes a nice wreath. By Gladys Hill
Are you ready to carve those pumpkins? You may have already but with Halloween landing on a Sunday this year there is always time to do more. Here are some sites with lots of information on pumpkin carving:
Do you have a sofa that has seen better days? I have one that the material was really worn and had started to rip in places. It was second hand when it came to us but my children were very young then and helped it deteriorate.
Hard boil your eggs. In a bowl, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of vinegar, red and yellow food color to make an orange color. Add hot water to the bowl and place your eggs in. Stir until the orange color is real bright. Remove eggs from bowl to dry. Once dry, use a washable or permanent black magic marker to draw on the eyes, nose and mouth. Use a green marker to add a stem effect to the top of the egg. Real cute to serve on Halloween morning at breakfast and for school lunches. My own idea! By Conni Hood
Christmas Decoration - Recycle a Sled
Do you have a small sled that you used to ride your little ones around in but now they have grown it? Well take that sled and paint it red and then using stencils add holly or something Christmasy to the top of the sled. After it has dried give it a coat or 2 of shellac or varnish. Then when completely dried prop it against the side of your home near the front door. You could also do this with old wooden skis that are not being used. It makes for a nice, festive decor for the holidays that are coming. By joesgirl
My nephew and I love Casper. So, for Halloween we would decorate with Casper eyes all over the house. The most unexpected places the better. You can use either eyes that you purchase (like window clings) or just cut them out of white paper and draw black pupils. It was so much fun and he had a great time trying to find Casper. By Aunt Kay
