Flower Arrangements and Delivery
Make your own flower arrangements and delivery personally. You will save a lot of money and delivering it will give it a personal touch. By Terri
For Christmas gifts for grandparents and aunts and other family I take pictures with my digital camera. I then upload onto my computer and put them on a calendar for the following year. What family member would prefer a nice personalized calendar to a tie or purse ? By Dee C.
Give Flowering Shrubs Instead of Flowers
I would prefer to get a nice flowering shrub or bush to cut flowers any day. I put them in my little greenhouse until the proper planting time. Then I have beautiful flowers that last for more than a couple days and get thrown away. By Dee C.
Anytime I mail a get well card to someone in the hospital I put THEIR home address in the the "return" section of the envelope. That way if they are discharged before the mail gets to them it will be "returned" to them at their home. Barbara in NC
I bought my toddler a pack of 4x6 cards (cheap and can be found anywhere!) I prefer to buy the "plain" ones, but lined ones work too. I can keep some of these handy in my purse, her tote bag, or above the fridge for any "bored" moment, I am able to give her a few pieces of it, and crayons (or pens) and let her do art to her hearts content. Then, I convert these into "postcards" to send to friends and relatives. The size is perfect, and it is very easy to draw a line down the backside, and address as a normal postcard--postage is the same too! RinEff
Ever wonder what to give the person with everything? Yesterday after church we had a ministry faire. It was wonderful! During the faire we designed a painting. The background was pink and everyone painted a heart on the canvas. The colors, glitter, different sizes and shapes made this one terrific painting! It will be auctioned off at the Valentine's dinner/dance.
At Christmas, I was signing cards and found more than a few I'd like to endow with a 'tiny' gift. I enclosed a flavored tea bag or two and got nice responses. This is a relatively inexpensive treat, since they come in various sized boxes. It only takes one cup with a note 'for a little rest and relaxation'. People do enjoy it!! CATHY
Mail College Kids a Roll of Quarters
As a special surprise for your college kids, mail them a roll of quarters. That way, they can do their mailing (and laundry) on you and maybe even have something left over to buy a treat from a vending machine! By Robin
Here is an idea that helps when you accidently have forgotten a special occasion and need a gift. These can be kept in a pantry or closet area or where ever you can find some space. . .
Malls are everywhere - in every town, city, village and nook. They house thousands of storefronts and assorted units. The products they stock are numerous and the array is mind-boggling. There are items for the home, clothing, jewelry, plants, furniture, and gift assortments to pick and choose from.
Teacup Teapot Sets For Sugar and Cream
Remember when those teacup/teapot sets were very popular as gifts for anyone you didn't know well? Well as a teacher I got a few of them. They did not work very well because the pot got so hot you couldn't handle it.
Nice Simple Gift For Any Occasion
Each holiday (Christmas, birthdays, just because, get well), for gals on my list, I buy reasonable priced candles and fingertip towels (all on sale) and save them for gifts. I wrap the candle in the towel, attach a tag/card and give. They're always thrilled! By Cathy
My sister got a basic sewing machine for Christmas and wants to start making things. For her birthday in Feb. I decided to make her sewing themed gift basket with some of the basic necessities (thread, buttons, seam ripper, needles, thimble, scissors, tape measure, pin cushion, some basic patterns etc) all in a sewing basket for her. You could get any lidded basket and line it with padding and an attractive fabric on the inside and top if you want. By Rahime
My friends and I had our Christmas on Jan. 14 so we could go to all the after Christmas sales. We are all in college and money is tight. By Katie
A Rose Bush - For The Person or Couple Who Have Everything
A nice gift for, say, a 25th or 50th wedding anniversary, is a rose bush from the garden shop. They come in a large variety of names (and colors, of course) that can be chosen to describe almost any relationship. Browse through the rose bushes this coming spring and acquaint yourself with the different names. They range in price from $10 to $45 & up. Mentioning the connection on the greeting card helps explain your choice. By Val D.
I use gift ribbons over. To press them flat again, as they have tie wrinkles, I use a curling iron. This is usually the right heat and I can slide the ribbon along and it presses. By Mary Ann from Mich.
If you are giving a bottle of gourmet oils or vinegars as a gift, or a bottle of wine for that matter, slip it into an oven mitt (so that the top of the bottle sticks out of the wrist opening of the mitt). Then tie a festive bow around the top to hold the mitt in place. The "wrapping" becomes part of the gift. If you like, you can tuck matching potholders and/or dishcloths in the mitt, too. This is especially appropriate for housewarming or wedding shower gifts! By Becki in Indiana
Keeping Gift Receipts With Gifts
Stores now give "gift receipts" to enclose with purchased gifts of clothing to facilitate returns. It is very easy to misplace these receipts, so take a minute and staple the gift receipt to the tag on the garment- this worked wonderfully well for our family this Christmas. By Susan
Reuse Shopping Bags With Twine Handles
If you ever come into possession of the shopping bags with twine handles, used by some of the more "upscale" stores, turn them into gift bags! For example, cut the front off of a Christmas card picturing Santa, a winter scene, etc.
What to give a patient in hospital and his wife?
What can you give a friend whose husband is in hospital. He is now paralized from waist down. His wife has stayed by his side for the past few weeks. What kind of gift can I give her to use/enjoy while staying in hospital with him and what can I give him that he may be able to use? Erin
