Pack Clutter Into Trash Bags And Organize Later
Do you feel overwhelmed that your home is a big mess? Just looking at it, you do not know where to begin? Try this:
If you have some clean cans and some strong bulldog clips, you can have a catch all to keep handy. Just put the clip everywhere the tins meet, and fill evenly with things like I did. I put in office, tool, and craft supplies.
I'm sitting on a jackpot, and I didn't realize it until a rainy week inspired me to clean my office closet. Over the course of this year I had easily purchased fifteen boxes of thank you cards for $3 a piece.
Keeping Clutter Off My Kitchen Counters
An old wicker shelf, a large cup-hook and some plastic bins help to organize all the miscellaneous "stuff" that winds up in the kitchen. Then distribute items once a day to their "proper" homes!
The supplies you will need to make an extension cord keeper are: a small plastic pail, a 2 inch paint roller handle, and an extension cord. Measure on bucket high enough for the handle to turn without scraping the floor.
I have been having a major declutter at my house. Nothing has been spared. I figured if I hadn't looked at some of the stuff I was considering hanging onto, I didn't really need it. I went through one room thoroughly every day, sparing nothing!
Organizing Ideas from Magazines in a Filing Cabinet
Since I have children, I often get magazines that have lots of ideas ranging from craft ideas to party and food ideas. I had accumulated so many because I wanted to keep the useful ideas that I came across. I was becoming overwhelmed with magazines.
Americans spend BILLIONS of dollars a year on storage containers! Recent data indicated that we spent $1.4 BILLION on FOOD storage containers in 2003 alone! I am a pack rat by nature and I save everything:
Craft: Clothes Pin Paper Organizer
Personalized Organizer from a recycled ruler, magnets, clothes pins and foam shapes. We used hot glue to place the clothespins and magnets onto the ruler. We wrote my children's names on each clothespin and decorated with some liquid beads for the center of the flowers.
Recycling Wipe Pouches for Storage
I use these wonderful wipes, then use the container for something else around the house. For flat things, they are great. I have Zipties, rubber bands, office supplies for the car, and just about anything you want to keep handy yet dry.
Label Your Cords To Prevent Pulling Out Wrong Ones
Behind my entertainment center you will find a variety of cords running to power bars. Pulling the wrong one when changing something can start a chain reaction of having to reset everything.
I use the large coffee containers as a trash can to collect lint from my dryer. It is large enough to collect a lot, and allows the lint to compress without breaking the container. The plastic does not scratch or make noise if the dryer vibrates...
Have any electrical cords hanging around your house and you don't know how to keep them neat? Fold them up and insert them into an empty toilet paper tube, then store them in the utility drawer
Use a Metal Coffee Can to Store Bags
Easy storage for grocery store plastic bags: Save your metal coffee can when finished with them. Cut a medium size "X" in the middle of the plastic lid. As you accumulate your plastic bags stuff them in the can and when you are ready to use on, just pull the bag through the "X" in the lid.
Using Hang Over the Door Shoe Organizer
Hang and over-the-door shoe organizer in your garage or on/near whatever door you exit. In it, stash all the grab-n-go items you may need - umbrella, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Everything will be in one place and ready for the road when you are!
Pencil Lead Containers For Storage
This would be perfect for recycling, too. I was cleaning out some desk stuff and found these. They are perfect for toothpicks, paper clips, hair pins and safety pins.
Keeping Track of Which AC Adapter Goes to Which Item
My AC adapters all black and all belonging to different items. I purchased a white permanent marker. I wrote on each one, (ie: cell phone) then used velcro strips to secure the cords and now store them all in a storage container that I got at a yard sale. They're on my list each time I go to get one. Big money saver. Now,I'm not guessing which goes to what, they're organized in one place and in a Thrifty container.
With the holidays approaching, its a great time to repurpose those cookie tins. Square and rectangular cookie tins (top and bottom) make great drawer organizers which can be very expensive when bought at the store. They can also be used in tool boxes, in art boxes, for crayons, and for other more "industrial" strength purposes where a regular box might not hold up.
Make Organizing Trays Out of Cereal Boxes
When empty, I use wide "scotch" tape to stick the top together of cereal boxes, then cut the top and bottom off to the depth of approx. 2 inch (or cut the sides instead for longer narrow "trays").
Keeping Small Space Organized and Clutter Free
I have a small trailer so I have 2 plastic stands that I brought at Wal-Mart. One I use for putting items for cooking and baking and extra stuff I don't use right away. I have a small one for my computer. I have my printer and since I have an old computer, I have my box on there.
