When we bury our dogs, we buy them a granite tombstone from the funeral home. They are the footstones, that are used at the foot of graves. We have our pet's name engraved on it. We put them in the ground, leaving them raised about 3 inches. We have 10 dogs buried and they all have their own tombstone.
A very nice idea is to go to Petloss.com They can do beautiful memorial pages for you at no cost. I lost my beloved dog Winston 3 years ago. He was 17 years old. I was not ready to do a memorial page right away, but did it this year. I'm sure you will be very pleased.
Editor's Note: You can also post an "In Memory Of" page for your pet here on ThriftyFun. This is particularly nice if you have shared your pet in the past.
