Serenity (Cleveland Metroparks Zoo)
This is what you see first when you walk into the rainforest exhibit at our local zoo. I could watch this waterfall for hours.
One windy day in my hometown of Bandon, Oregon, my husband and I hopped in the car and headed to the children's park, by our local library. Here, I had an appointment for a photo shoot with my best girlfriend and her precious miracle baby of a daughter (long story).
My husband and I just recently moved to our new home closer to the Bandon beaches. While climbing rocks and trudging through wet sand, my husband found a still-unidentified white object bearing a crucifix on it.
My 18 month old grandson, Moses, absolutely loves the beach. I was snapping pictures of him and did not realize I caught his reflection and that of the clouds above him in the watery sand until I had them printed.
Photo: In Time of Need (Haiti)
My sister who is a RN was sent out to help in Haiti when the earthquake happened. In this picture, she had just helped deliver twins.
Photo: Stop to Smell the Roses
I took this photograph of myself on the webcam in my office a few days ago. The roses are fake, in fact, from a thrift store in the area for only a couple bucks. This is a reminder to stop and smell the roses, whether they're fake or real!
First Trip to Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle, WA)
For my grandson Moses' first birthday we took him to Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. He was so fascinated with the aquarium and the penguins, we had a hard time getting him away from the tanks.
I got a new camera and have started taking pictures of sunsets. I tried to get a picture of one through my boys upstairs bedroom window, and this is what I got. We used it at both of my husband's parents funerals in their slide shows.
Scenery: Travel from Sea to Shining Sea!
As some of you know, I recently drove across country. I left Chicago on March 27th and headed for Falls Church, VA. I stayed a few days with some friends, and then left for Oregon. My trip was adventurous to say the least.
This is something that I did nearly 10 years ago. My father passed away in 2001. After the funeral, I went to his closet and picked one of his work boots, or his "brogans" as he called them. My father was in timber all my life until retiring.
Photo: The Smaller Things in Life
It never has failed to amaze me of the excitement of a little kid, in finding joy in something that we over look everyday. It's times like these that we need to stop and think about what we are overlooking and missing in our everyday routines.
Several years ago, my husband decided to cut down a large leaning tree in our front yard and put up the flagpole he'd been wanting for quite some time. We replace the American Flag every year on (or around) July 4th, and replace the USMC around January 1st.
My Frugal Life: Discovering Gratitude During a Recession
A recession can certainly create a shift in perception. But when the walls of comfort begin to crumble, the way a person looks at their situation is a personal choice. Initially my reaction was fear.
When I see this flag, I think of the the troops that are in Iraq during the winter while we are at home warm by the fires with our families. They are out there defending the country they love and their beloved families that live here.
Upon discovering my close friends and I all had 'Gemini' birthdays in the 6th month of the year, we became 'The Gemini Girls'. We have used that excuse for years to get together for breakfasts, shopping and whining about husbands sessions.
Alyssa's papa was working on the car and she wanted to help with the car.
Using Life Savers candy, I made an abstract photo using a few red and one white lifesaver. It can be used to convey various meanings, but "standing out" or "being different" is what I was going for.
The young children, on this day, September 11, 2010, made a tribute memorial to the twin towers and to the people who lost their lives on 9 11. Our cat, Tiger, liked it so much, he decided to take a cat nap on it.
Scenery: Jet Stream 9/11 Tribute
My living room and patio face the direction of our small airport here, about fifteen miles away from my home in Richland, so I often see takeoff jet streams from the planes.

I finished up the tape in this dispenser today and my brain kicked into overdrive.
