Adult Pads as Alternative to "Puppy Pads"
Most everyone I know owns a pet. They can be expensive but I try to cut corners and save where I can. There is nothing like the unconditional love of an animal. I rescued my dog on what was, to be her last day.
Daisy is my 8 year old BLM (Bureau of Land Management) standard donkey/burro. I got her 2 years ago, as a rescue. She was living in a 12x12 foot pen for two years, I couldn't leave her there!
This is Spud, my 2 month old cockerel chicken. His breed is a Dark Brahma. I hatched him out early last spring along with his only sister. This breed grow slowly and take longer time to mature then any other breed I known.
Vinegar for Cleaning Bird Cages
Equal parts white vinegar and water works great on cleaning bird cages and leaves a fresh scent. Most importantly it is safe for parrots.
Cheerio (Shetland Pony) and Maggie (Arabian X)
Cheerio is 9 year old Shetland pony, and Maggie is a 5 year old Arabian X.
Phoenix the Rooster is 6 months or so. I think it is a frizzle mix. I found a sweet person who was willing to share their baby chicken, which had just hatched. Our kids were trying to take care of a chicken egg and then keep it as a pet.
Weasie the Weasel is 1 year old or so. She is a ferret. This lovely woman found a person who could not keep her and put it on freecycle.org and I found it and took it.
Frozen Peas and Corn for Pet Birds
Amongst the many pets I have, there is a sulfur -crested cockatoo, a rescue bird, who is a real joy. He came to us in extremely poor health, nearly dead in fact He had been fed most of his 4 years of life on dry dog food of all things.
Bacchus is a 10 month old giant, white rat. I adopted him, and saved him from being snake food. He likes to play with his toys, and snuggle with me. He loves to eat and play.
This is my very best friend. His name is Weed Smokin' Gigalo and, NO I didn't give him his name. His birth "parents" did.
Spike (Little Corella Cockatoo)
Spike is 4 years old and a Little Corella Cockatoo. I got him at Christmas time. I had just lost a beloved cockatiel and was hoping for another one to love.
I found this praying mantis in my driveway. Found an old jar and scooped him up to take to my grandkids. I knew my grandson would appreciate how cool they look! He is holding it in this photo, but my granddaughter wanted no part in the BUG!
Milo (Timneh African Grey Parrot)
Milo is a 5 year old Timneh African Grey Parrot. I got him 4 years ago, my sister gave him to me. When I handle him I make sure to have an old shirt on because he likes to make his happy holes in them!

Roaring Wind Lightning aka Beanz is ten years old and a POA (Pony of the Americas). I bought him six years ago. Beanz loves to go to McDonald's, Burger King, the Car Wash.
Phoenix is the black legged chick, and Fluffy is the white legged chick. Our pet chicks are very young, they are still in an incubator large plastic home on our entertainment center in the bedroom.
Sudburri is a 4 year old Chinchilla. I got Sudburri at a pet store.
Sammi (Lesser Crested Sulfur Cockatoo)
Sammi is a 10 year old Lesser Crested Sulfur Cockatoo bird. My son purchased her, but after 6 months she came to reside with me, by default I guess. She has been at my house ever since.
Romeo is a 7 year old cockateil. When I first got him, the pet store told me he was a girl. I named him Lucy (after Lucille Ball). When he was about 6 months old, I found a site that did DNA sexing via feathers. I found out that Lucy was indeed a boy.
Cleaning the parakeets cage is not fun. I try to do it every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I take everything out and apart and wash in hot soapy water. I love my parakeets, Sky and Bonnie.
Wildlife: Goslings (Baby Geese)
My children and I saw these goslings by the river yesterday afternoon. I couldn't get an exact count, but there were about 25-30 of them. You could tell they were used to people being around, because they didn't run away while we were there.

We have a small farm and raise pigs, rabbits, goats, and have dogs, a snake, and a turtle. Piglet likes to chase and play with the other pigs. She also loves when the kids go in her pin and play "tag".
Ben, Henry and Tammy Faye (Turkeys)
Ben, Henry and Tammy Faye Turkey all hatched in Spring '09. They are Bourbon Reds. I purchased them for pets. They like to stand on the pickup hood and look at themselves in the windshield. Sure does scratch the paint though.
In Memory Of Dusty (Chinchilla)
Dusty was 7 years old. She died last week from a common chinchilla disease. She was a Standard Chinchilla. My son and my husband were at home together due to a school snow day about 7 years ago. To my surprise, Dusty joined our family that day.
