I thought this guy was absolutely adorable! He crawled around on my husband's organic borage blossoms for a long period of time, offering me ample opportunity for shots!
Wildlife: Sandy Swallowtail Butterfly
While visiting Laverne Park here in Coquille, Oregon with my mother and little cousin, I was amazed to see these Swallowtail butterflies fluttering around the river bed right on the sandy shoreline.
I took my time coming home from work the other day to take pictures of the beautiful foliage. I passed by a field and saw this beautiful horse grazing in front of trees displaying their fall colors.
Wildlife: Squirrels Love PB and J
After arriving at the lake and getting our picnic underway, this little fellow decided it was a good idea to join us. Although he was a little skittish at first, the yummy taste of peanut butter and jelly kept him coming back for more.
Wildlife: Three Orange Butterflies
These three orange butterflies posed beautifully for me. They all flew down at the same time and didn't seem to mind me being so close. Then they all flew away together and I never saw them again.
Wildlife: Anemone (Sunset Beach, OR)
This is from one of our many journeys out to explore the trails and shores around Sunset Beach just outside of Charleston, Oregon. While excitedly adventuring around a rocky shore filled with tide pools, I found an area with brilliantly green sea anemones!
Wildlife: Peacock (Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, IN)
This gorgeous peacock was just one of MANY that roamed freely about Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. It was by chance that I turned and noticed this guy standing beside me proudly displaying his feathers.
My wife, Sue, getting a suprising admirer!
While reaching into my purse for the notepad I write grocery lists on, I screamed and yanked my hand back! I'd felt something wet and slimy! I looked down, and leaping away was an innocent little tree frog.
Wildlife: Deer (Weekiwachee Wildlife Preserve, FL)
This is a picture of some deer in the Weekiwachee wildlife management area in Hernando Beach.
Wildlife: Hummingbird Hanging in the Air
The hummingbirds have owned the back garden, near the Mexican Sage and other plants. They have been zooming around, especially one couple who obviously are interested in one another. They are beautiful and graceful!
Scenery: Bumblebee and Sunflower (Hamilton, TX)
While fishing one summer, I decided to take photos near our pond. The butterflies and bees had been drawn to the sunflowers. With a little patience, I managed to take this photo.
This banana spider has been on our back deck for about two weeks now. He is absolutely beautiful with his brilliant colors. I have been photographing him at different times during the day since we found him.
Wildlife: Baby Sandhill Crane (Gray's Lake Bird Refuge, ID)
My grandson's daddy was raised near the Gray's Lake Bird Refuge in Idaho. They pass by it each time they visit their other grandparents.
Wildlife: Falcon at My Bird Feeder (Ohio)
This falcon came to visit my birdfeeder. Of course, he wasn't looking for seed but one nice, fat bird. But that's nature, isn't it? He's a beautiful guy. He didn't get a meal that day, by the way.
Wildlife: Butterfly (Hamilton, TX)
My family and I had spent the day fishing at a nearby pond but fish were not biting. So I grabbed my camera to catch the butterflies beginning to swarm. I had to try several times to get just the right shot, but it was worth it!
Wildlife: Swallowtail Butterfly
This Swallowtail Butterfly just came in and landed on our west garden fence one afternoon. I always have a camera close by in case something like this happens. Well, I got the photo, and I like it a lot.
Wildlife: Deer in My Front Yard
When I look out my front window, I frequently see these 4-legged, beautiful deer come to visit. They eat the bird seed off the ground, and drink from the bird bath.
The Hooded Orioles are beautiful birds and are in our area and garden in the Spring. This one, at the tip-top of the cypress, showing its golden sun colors, immediately attracted me to photograph him.
I went out to the garden this morning (as usual) and looked up at my fence and look what I found! Two gorgeous dragonflies just busy doing what comes natural. If you look close you can see that one of them is a gorgeous blue and the other one is a brilliant green.
"Can I Keep It?" Rescuing Wild Animals
If you find a baby animal, that you believe has been abandoned; leave it where it is, unless it is in clear danger. Keep a watch on it from a distance; if need be, place it in a basket of some type to prevent it from crawling off, and watch for the mother to come back to it.
Keeping Birds from Nesting in a BBQ Grill
In a frantic spring of trying to garden, paint my porch and deck and dodging raindrops, I neglected to check my gas grill! I had put duct tape over the holes on the sides of the cover, knowing I could get visitors.
Nest Made by Perfect Little Engineers
My boss found this Bee's nest (Hornet's?) in a high bush at my work yesterday. I went back on my day off hoping it was still there to take pictures. They were calling an exterminator to remove it.
This is our Baby Owl. It was on our road and wouldn't move when I drove by it so my husband brought it to the house. We fed it then put it up in the woods so it's mother could take care of it. We have people around here that would have probably run over the poor thing.
