Flavored Cream Cheese

I get bored with the same old plain cream cheese and the store bought flavors are not usually very tasty (or very limited choice) so I did some searching for different recipes to make at home that can be used for appetizers, crackers, fresh fruit and fresh veggies as well as bagels :-) Here are a few choices:

Cherry Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 Tbsp. chopped maraschino cherries

Beat first ingredients together until fluffy and then fold in the cherries.

Coffee Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp. instant coffee

Beat all ingredients together until light and well blended.

Orange Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. grated orange peel

Beat all ingredients until smooth.

Pineapple Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 8 oz can unsweetened crushed pineapple, drained

Mix both ingredients until blended

Ham Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt or powder
  • 5 oz deli ham, chopped
  • 2 large green onions, thinly sliced

Combine first three ingredients until smooth and then stir in the ham and onions.

Jalapeno And Cilantro Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 3/4 cup fresh cilantro, minced
  • 4-1/2 tsp. ranch dry salad dressing mix
  • 3 tsp. jalapeno pepper (or more to taste), chopped

Blend ingredients until smooth.

Make Your Own Flavored Cream Cheese

Make your own flavored cream cheese. Just take the desired amount of regular "brick" cream cheese and soften to room temperature. Stir in desired ingredients (chopped chives, sun-dried tomatoes, dill, nuts olives, etc.) and mix well. Place in refrigerator container with a tight fitting lid and store.
