Halloween: Bubble Gum Machine Costume
Dress child in clothes. Cut arm and neck holes in bag. Put bag on the child as a shirt. Tape the bottom opening tight around their waist. Fill the bag with the balls from neck opening.
Halloween: Playing Card Costume
Creative, crafty and inexpensive Halloween costume! Could not have cost more than $10 per person for all. My son and his friends decided they wanted to be playing cards for Halloween. Here is how we made it happen.
Measure child's waist and cut a ribbon 3x that measurement. Make a mark in the middle, this will be the center of the waistband. From that point, measure half the waist measurement on each side. Tie knots to mark end of waist.
Arrange seashells to bust of dress and glue accordingly. Outline with sequined trim. Sketch tail outline on cardboard and cut. Cover with old pillowcase. Outline with sequined trim.
Halloween: Guilmon (Digimon) Costume
I purchased 4 yards of Red Felt, 1 yard of black felt, 1 yard of white felt, and 1 yard of red felt as well as some foam. I also got some elastic (for the waist) and sat down to try to figure it out, without a pattern, and only a picture on a video game as instruction!

Here's our interpretation of the "Monthly Gift from Mother Nature". I wanted to do something really funny and make a costume that no one else would be demented enough to make.
Halloween: Super Grover Costume (Sesame Street)
Here is a DIY Super Grover costume. At a local thrift store, I bought a blue sweat shirt and a blue pair of pants, and tried to match the color as close as possible. I also found some colored felt and sewed on the "S" with the lighting bolt as his logo.
Halloween: Spooky Witch Costume
My granddaughter had a witch costume. We hot glued plastic spiders all over the hat and painted her face a nice shade of green and added "warts."
Halloween: Farmer Costume (Wheelchair)
A large painted cardboard box is all you need! My husband is paralyzed and said that he couldn't wear a Halloween costume. But, wheelchairs can make a great costume.
Halloween: Partly Cloudy Costume
Talk about a frugal, quick, inexpensive costume, this is it! Take any plain, solid-colored sweatshirt (preferably dark), glue or use double-stick tape to adhere some white pillow stuffing a little below the neck of the shirt.
Halloween: Pirate Costume (Jack Sparrow)
This costume was made from items around the house and thrift store buys, costing pennies to make. Any black pants will do, an adult black sweater with arms cut off for the vest, a striped piece of fabric for the sash and a belt.
Halloween: The Eye Balls Have It Costume
To make this costume, start with a white kitchen trash bag. Cut a hole at the top for the child's head and one on either side for their arms. For the Pupil, we hot glued a paper plate painted black to the center of the front side of the trash bag.
Halloween: Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) Dog Costume
The white shirt is from the Salvation Army. The plaid fabric was also from the Salvation Army. The wig is a from a previous costume.
Halloween: Slice of Pizza Costume
Using dark-yellow felt, measure length and width of child, you want the slice to come out a little bit beyond the shoulders and below the crotch. Cut 2 triangles.
Halloween: Captured by Frank Costume
This costume was so much fun to make and pretty easy too. All I did was, I bought a Styrofoam head from the local costume shop as well as the Frankenstein mask and green hands. I went to our local thrift shop and bought a small man's suit in black.
Using red felt, measure the length and width of the child, cut out a strawberry (2 layers). Sew the shoulders together leaving a hole large enough for the child's head
Halloween: Barbarian Warrior Costume
To make this costume, we used old curtains, a toilet seat cover, an old wig and leatherette from an old purse.
Halloween: Laundry Basket Costume
You will need a large white bedsheet. Cut out a hole in sheet to fit over your head. Try to center the hole in the middle of length of sheet. You will need a round plastic clothes basket with most of bottom cut out to fit over your head and rest on your shoulders.
Halloween: Peanut Butter and Jelly Family Costume
We took two pillowcases and cut head and arm holes in them for the peanut butter and jelly. We used plastic coffee can lids for the top of the jar and tied it on like a hat.
Halloween: Brown Eyed Susan Garden Dog Costume
I am a sewer, not professional but you should have some machine sewing experience to make this costume. Our dog is only 6 1/2 pounds so you will have to adjust the pattern for your size dog. Measure around the widest part of the body and also the length of the back area.

This costume was got so much attention. I was so glad I went through the effort in making a handmade costume. Most of what I do is just trial and error so don't be afraid to try.
Halloween Costume: Bun in the Oven
My daughter was pregnant at Halloween time so they made a "Bun in the Oven" costume. Her husband was outfitted with a white apron and chef's hat and carried a mixing bowl and wooden spoon.
Halloween Costume: Deviled Egg
The instructions are quite simple. First go to the fabric store and pick up a couple of yards of white felt and 1/2 a yard of bright yellow felt. You also need store bought materials for being a devil, such as the the red horns, the tail and the pitchfork.
Halloween Costume: Frog Prince
Cut a large white circle from the felt and stick on the front of the onesie/jumper as the belly of the frog. Cut gold circles from the gold [border] paper and use double-sided sticky tape OR hot glue to scatter on the green part of the frog's body.
