Burned Popcorn and Computers |
|
|
I have two questions.
1. I burned popcorn in my microwave and the inside is now stained yellow - does anyone have any ideas on how to get this out?
2. I homeschool and use my computer throughout the day - should I leave it on or turn it off and on (electricity and wear and tear wise)?

Acetone will take care of the yellow stain.

Check with the manufacturer
It would be best to check with the manufacturer or your machine. Computers are made to be left on for long periods of time but there is probably a recommendation for your model. Mine works best if left on all the time, is energy efficient and has a sleep mode. Some models may use a lot of power or you may want to turn off your monitor as I believe it uses the most energy.

"sleep mode"
I generally leave my computer on in the "sleep mode" since we check the e-mail several times a day, plus will be using the computer during the day. If you use your computer only once a day ... turn it off when finished. Tip: When you leave the house always turn off your computer.

#2 Answer
#2 We leave our computer on all the time and there hasn't been a problem. It seems to me that there would be more wear and tear on the computer by turning it on and off all the time.
