My friend recently got married. What is a good gift to give her and her husband for Christmas? They received lots of gifts at their wedding. Does anyone have any good ideas?

I bought a three-ring binder and covered it with scrap fabric (you can also use wrapping paper or other decorations). Then I used my word processor to make a calendar - one page per month - and wrote in all the family events (birthdays, anniversaries etc.). In between each month I put a pocket divider and in each pocket some generic cards so that they'd have some on hand to send out on each occasion. In the front I also pasted a fabric pocket and put in a bunch of stamps. I also printed off a list of the family members names and current addresses. Overall it was a very pretty book and contained information that I knew the new couple would end up scrambling for at the last minute. This way celebrating events during their first year was easy and they didn't forget anything important! (Note: make sure you get info from both sides of the family so no one gets left out!)

Many times newlyweds have not accumulated Christmas ornaments. Choose a nice 'First year Together" ornament or a dated ornament that is fitting for their personalities, hobbies, or jobs. A decorative piece for table or mantle that is 'just right" for them would be good too. They will remember you every year when they unpack their Christmas decorations.

Tickets to a local play are a great gift that many would not think to buy for themselves. I plan on tucking my family's tickets into gingerbread houses i am making them for Christmas. This would work for any holiday.

Why not look at all the neat boutiques going on in communities right now and give them a nice Christmas decoration. These things are expensive and I am sure that they would be welcome.

Even though a newlywed couple received many gifts on their wedding day, things for the house are always nice and welcome! Some ideas:

a. tray(s)
b. tablecloths with matching linen serviettes
c. place mats
d. linen serviettes with serviette holders
e. a kitchen wall clock
f. a "welcome" mat for the front door
g. a birthday calendar (the kind you write your
family/friends' birthdays in)
h. a telephone book (ditto)
i. as a last resort: a gift voucher for an interior shop
which they can spend on the things they need.

Good luck!

Give the newlyweds Christmas decorations, they probably have very few and something special would be appreciated.
