Mother's Day is coming up soon, and rather than send my mom cut flowers that will last about a week, I like to plant some flowers in containers for display on her front porch. I shop for the dirt and plants, pay for them, and do all the work involved. That way she has a labor-free flower "garden" that she can enjoy all summer long.

Make a "Memory Jar" for an inexpensive gift. Write some nice
memories on slips of paper and put them in a pretty jar or dish for Mom.
