Favorite Links

What are your favorite links and why do like them? These can include a variety of resources on the internet.

I found a small YahooGroup that specializes in just printing cooking & food links. If you are a recipe-aholic, and you love to surf new recipe sites, you will love this little group. Recipe Links

Another little gem of a discussion group I found is: Recycled_Junk_Treasures

The group owner makes art out of junk, from mild to wild, as well as useful art objects such as an old wringer washing machine made into a planter, and various metal objects incorporated into a fence gate. Photos of some of the various projects are available at the group.

This group is an inspiring place for those who like to recycle and hate to part with "junk" that has potential!

I use the Internet for research and gathering information (like at thriftyfun.com) as much as for anything else and this site www.findarticles.com has thousands of ARTICLES (not just excerpts from web pages) about thousands of differnt subjects. If you really want to research a subject, try this site. I love it!!!

Someone mentioned Mapquest...I think RandMcNally is WAY better for maps, try it, I bet you'll like the maps a lot better. One of my very favorite sites is CloudEight. It has computer tips and absolutely gorgeous email stationery and SAFE smilecons and lots more.

The ones I go on the most are: www.allrecipes.com because it's huge & you can size the recipes. Also: www.yumyum.com because it's just huge. The internet movie database because there's hardly anything or anyone that's not on it: www.imdb.com. I use www.smartpages.com as my phone book & www.mapquest.com for directions/maps. I'm addicted to the internet!

www.freecycle.org is my favorite site!!! The goal is to keep things out of landfills....people post things they are looking for and thing they are trying to get rid of. I have done a lot of closet cleaning this way since many of the charities in my area are full of items during the summer and will not take more.

I love this site and there is almost one for every city!

Mypoints.com is a MUST for the thrify computer user. I've only used it for about a month, I've never had to buy anything, and I already have enough points for a $10 gift ceretificate to blockbuster. All it takes are a few clicks to satisify mypoints' sponsors and you start earning points toward free stuff!

Now, if you want to sign up, that's good.

But, if you could help me out for telling you about the site, that would be even better. Here's how: Send me one of your email addresses to the email address I give below. (now don't freak out here, just read on for a second) I would suggest sending me a backup email address to protect your primary address and your privacy. Getting a second email address is simple; just go to any search engine (ie yahoo.com), type in "free email", and find a site that suits you. Or, simply visit www.myownemail.com and sign up for an email account there. Remember, getting a second (or third, or fourth...) email address is easy, its fast, its simple and best of all its FREE!

OK, now that you have your new email account, send me the address. I'll then give that address to mypoints and they will send you an offer to sign up with them. (I promise to delete and forget your email as soon as you send it) Signing up is free, all they want is a bit of info and an email address for you (which by amazing coincidence you now have). After that they send you some ads that have something like "bonus mail from mypoints" as the subject. You don't have to buy anything, just let your mouse wander over to the little buttons in these emails that are worth 5pts. per click. You'll be suprised how quickly these points add up!

I hope you'll show your appreciation for this post by letting me refer you to mypoints.com:)

My favorite links are Dictionary.com http://dictionary.com/

Dictionary.com gives me several meanings for each word and there is also
a thesaurus as well as many other interesting things at the site. Whenever I am not sure of the spelling or meaning of a word I can pop over to dictionary.com.

One of my favorites is the C-SPAN website. They have lots of shows that can be watched online (if you have a fast connection.) There are also links to their Great American Author's section and lots of links to newspapers and political websites all over the country.

I love Project Gutengerg more than any other site. They have LOADS of wonderful literature, complete unabridged works, right online to read or to print.

I like to know about when the sun and moon will rise/set. I just happened on to this one because I typed the domain name. It's great, you can print out calendars for your area.
