Judging the Freshness of Apples |
|
|
How do you know when you're picking apples from the grocery if they're fresh or not? Run your fingers over the skin of the apple, if it feels smooth, it's a fresh apple. But if it feels like the skin is rubbery or wrinkly, it's not a fresh apple.

RE: Judging the Freshness of Apples
I'll add a ripeness comment. If you are looking at Red Delicious apples, do not select the ones that are the most beautiful developed color of red all over.
Those are a tad more over mature than the ones that look like they are headed in that direction.
