Try several different sizes, as a test and see. What kind of results you get.

When I was a little girl the elderly gentleman accross the street from us rooted and helped me plant a plum tree for me to care for in my backyard yard from one of his mature (already fruit bearing) trees ... I seem to remember the branch was between two and a half to three feet tall ... Decades later the people who had purchased our house from my parents let me come visit the yard and were still enjoying Daddyo's effort of love :-) That tree is huge now ;-)
