Making Homemade Strawberry Pie Filling

I make a dessert that uses canned Strawberry Pie Filling. Does anyone know how to make Strawberry Pie Filling instead of buying the canned stuff. It's so expensive!

Recipes For Fruit Slushes

Last summer I found recipes for frozen fruit slushes on here but I can't find them now. I want to make them in a huge bowl and then freeze them in small containers or cups. I could wing it but I liked all the suggestions out there. Thanks for any help! We are fruit lovers around here.

Freezing Squash

Can someone tell me how to freeze fresh squash? I think you just cut it up and freeze it but not sure. Thanks.

Use Holiday Chocolate for Grating or Curling

Holiday solid chocolate figures, such as Easter bunnies, Santas, or Valentine's hearts, are perfect for grating for dessert toppings. Buy several after season when they are clearanced and store them in your freezer.

Use A Can As A Biscuit Cutter

If you are in need of a cookie or biscuit cutter, simply take an empty soup (canned goods) can and open it with a can opener on both ends. This works perfectly the same as a cutter and saves you from buying one of those fancy cutters that are made from the same thing.

Note: Check both ends of can to be sure it can be opened on both ends as some cans are rounded on the ends.

Mother's Day Cookbook

My little grandsons (Jonny, nearly 4, and Joey, 20 months) are elbow deep in a project for Mother's Day for their mommy, other grandma, and day care provider. We are making a cookbook of their favorite meals and snacks. I am taking tons of pictures of them "fixing" the food. It helps that they are total hams! But we have included such things as "ants on a log" (celery stuffed with peanut butter and dotted with raisins), tacos, grilled cheese, jello with fruit, and other things we love to make together. I am printing out the recipes with pictures on the computer and putting them in clear report covers. In the mean time, they are learning about healthy snacks and easy meals, and we are having a BALL! I can hardly wait until they can present their gift.

Anyone Have Tips for Thrush?

Update:

Editor's Note: Connie is a long time reader who has submitted lots of wonderful recipes to ThriftyFun. We wish her a fast and full recovery. Here's an update from her:

To all who was kind enough to submit suggestions for Thrush, I heartily thank you. Now I have some news about this illness and something else too. Would you believe that I never had Thrush?

The ENT so called specialist prescribed medication and never followed up with another visit to see if the medication had cleared the problem. I was STILL having problems breathing and went to my doctor. I told him I would not return to the specialist as I had no faith in him. My doctor sent me to a pulmonary specialist for an x-ray of my lungs and after the x-ray was taken I had horrible chest pains which had several doctors administering to me and then getting me directly into the hospital. I had pneumonia, not Thrush. After examining the c-scan and x-ray that was taken, it was also discovered that I had a spot on my lung that was of concern. It is small and I'll begin the treatments beginning May 7. First comes the full body scan to spot any hot spots IF there are any. Then the treatments will be everyday for 6 weeks, and I'm hoping this puts the nasty C in remission. I can only say that I'm thankful it was pneumonia. Otherwise this thing would have never been discovered until too late.

I'm home from the hospital and quite weak, but getting a bit stronger as each day passes. Maybe tomorrow I'll skip rope. {laughing}....I'll try to submit a recipe as I feel up to sitting at this 'puter. Again, I thank each and everyone who gave me suggestions for curing the Thrush. Wish you had the cure for pneumonia and the big C. {LOL} Actually at this time, it's a little C, thank goodness. God is good!!!

As a child I remember my mother making toffee for a special treat. She set them in patty cake paper, some where sticky and some where not. I can't remember how they are made. I remember she boiled up sugar and water and added vinegar, but thats all I remember.
