Noodles Restaurant Mac and Cheese

We live in the Chicago area and enjoy going to Noodles Restaurant. My son loves the macaroni and cheese. Does anyone have a recipe similar to that? Thanks.

Today's Recipes

Cinnamon Pears

Drain juice from can of Bartlett pears (1 lb size). Add 1/3 cup red cinnamon candies and 2 drops of red food coloring. Boil juice until candies have melted. Then pour back over pears and when cold, store in refrigerator. Pears should stand in juice about 24 hours and will then be a brilliant red. Fill cavity with cream cheese and place on crisp lettuce.

Maraschino Drops

Drain and wipe cherries dry. Dip in melted sweet chocolate and place on buttered cookie sheet. Candied fruit peel is delicious with chocolate coating also.

Apple-Filled Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp. butter flavoring

Directions

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat 1 whole egg and 1 egg yolk together, reserve remaining egg white. Add milk and flavoring to beaten eggs. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Gently knead on lightly floured board. Roll into 8x12 inch rectangle. Cut with 3 inch biscuit cutter. Spoon apple filling across center. Fold over (like turnovers) so half of round is now on top. Seal edges by pressing with tines of a fork. Brush top with beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar. Put on greased cookie sheet. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees F, for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Apple Filling Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped apples

Apple Filling Directions

Combine ingredients. When well mixed spoon onto biscuits as directed. Your family will love these!

Nova Scotia Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
  • 2 cup boiling water
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 1 package dry yeast dissolved in 2/3 cup warm water
  • Flour

Directions

To the rolled oats, salt and shortening, add the 2 cup boiling water. When this mixture is tepid, add molasses and the yeast dissolved in 2/3 cup warm water. To all of the above add flour until the dough is firm enough to handle. (Dough should be stiff enough so that when you try to life it with a spoon it doesn't separate into two parts). Now let the dough rise until it is double in size. Mold with buttered hands and place in bread pans. Let rise again until double in size, and then bake in 350 oven for one hour. This is a real family treat!
