Coupon and Rewards Card Wallet

I love coffee, and great deals while shopping, so I have tons of "frequent buyer" coffee punch cards, coupons, and gift cards. But with all of them just loose in my purse, it was a mess! Worse yet, when I would clean out my purse and leave some of the coupons or gift cards at home, I'd often be at a store and find a great deal, then realize I didn't have the coupon or card with me--it was at home!

To solve this, I took an extra wallet that I had and put my coupons in the bill holder area, and gift cards and coffee punch cards (along with some other important ones) in the credit card area. Now I don't have to worry about running across a sale and not having a coupon or not getting credit for my latest cup of coffee! Finding things in my purse is much easier too!

Keeping Him Out of Trouble

This is my son Padraic. He is constantly going behind me and wrecking the house after I clean it. I find that if I get a laundry basket and pull him along behind me me, it is not only fun for him, but keeps him out of trouble.

Yoda (Shih Tzu)

This is my brother in laws dog, Yoda. He is 6 years old and is a Shih Tzu. I'm not sure how or when he got him.

He likes to play with his hedgehog toy, tears up one a week. He also loves to ride on the quad.

He is a laid back dog, will allow people to do just about anything to him, for example, cover completely with blanket, and if you need him to move, you have to physically move him. We dog sit quite often and he loves to play with my daughter.

Homemade Fabric Freshener

You can save money on fabric and air fresheners by making your own. Here's what you need:

Mix 2 parts of your favorite liquid fabric softener to 4 parts water, put in a spray bottle and lightly spray on curtains, bedding, any fabric furnishings for a refreshing, clean smelling home.

Small Ziplock Bags for Travel

My husband and I just got back from a trip to the west coast to attend our son's retirement from the Navy after 24 years, then on to our daughter's wedding as well as visiting friends and family. It was a two week trip and we needed to take lots of clothes and accessories with us. One thing I found most useful was to place my earrings in those mini zip bags that you can buy for next to nothing at any craft store. I then placed all the bags into a small make-up bag to keep them all together. That made it so easy to find what I needed when I needed it. I don't know why I never thought of it before.

Remedy for Mosquito Bites

Now that mosquito season is upon us I have a tip. I had tried the standard rubbing alchohol, and then the pharmacy said to try Chiggerex. This was a wasted $3.59.

I was told to try taking a tiny bit of baking soda and tiny bit of vinegar and mix together in a bowl. You might have to add a little bit of one or the other to get it to a pasty consistency. I take my finger and rub it on the bites and relief really quickly that lasts for quite a while. I did this for about 2 days and that did the trick. I had been in MISERY for 2 days not able to sleep. Everyone has this stuff sitting around, thats the beauty of it!

Baby Wipe Container Toy Building Blocks

What do you do with all those baby wipes boxes that you go through while raising your children? By using the same brand, but choosing different color packages you can make quite a collection. Then when they are empty, wash them out really clean and take the label off with "Goo-Gone" (a liquid orange product) and you have a ready-made, colorful, easy, set of BIG building blocks for your children to play with. Because they are clean inside, they make great little keeper boxes for kids little collections, too.

Use Thermos for Leftover Beverages

After making my coffee in the morning, I always put my leftover coffee in a thermos because my coffee maker automatically shuts off after a certain amount of time and it gets cold. I cook for one so I don't want to waste it by throwing it out. This method is good for any hot liquid, tea, hot chocolate, etc. if you want to make it at a convenient time and have it ready for when you need it.

This is also great for camping when you only cook once or twice a day. You can also put leftover soup, etc. in a wide mouth thermos.

Tomato Cages for Garage Sale Signs

Our city has gotten very strict about placement of garage sale signs. We cannot post on utility poles of any kind, fences, etc. and fines can be levied. A tomato cage works fantastic for this, sign needs to be of heavy paper or cardboard and then tape onto the cage or tie. Voila! Place where you need it. No staplegun needed, it will not blow over and is very easy to retrieve. The sign stays in place and is easy to read. Hence more customers = more money = frugal tip to me.

Dark Circles on My Elbows and Knees

I would like to know if someone has a homemade recipe for cleaning elbows and the knees. I have a dark circle on them I don't know how to return them to as they used to be. I don't like them the way they look right now. I tried to use oil and lemon but that's not working. I use cream and butter cream everyday but they are not doing what I really wanted.

Dealing With The Grief After Losing a Pet

I had to euthanize my dog, Lewis, who was 15 1/2 years old. I am suffering from profound grief, and guilt. I miss him so much! This tragedy occurred on June 5th. He was a wonderful dog, and there will never be another one like him. If anyone has any advice about how I can help with the grief, I would welcome the advice. I wanted to get another dog, but my husband is adamant about not getting one. We spent a lot on vet bills, and slept in the same room with him the last months of his life. I still can't bear the pain of losing him. Thanks to all! Alleen from Rome City, IN

Magic Eraser Took The Finish Off My Wood Table

I spilled cherry Crystal Light on my light wood kitchen table. Without thinking, I used a magic sponge to get the red stain off. The sponge took off the stain and the finish as well. So far I am touching it up with Old English (for light wood). This only works temporarily because when you wipe the table clean some of the wax comes off until there is once again a bare spot. Is there any way I can fix this without refinishing an entire table top (which isn't an option right now)?

Tasty Iced Coffee Recipes

I am looking for a recipe for really tasty iced coffee. I need to drink the caffeine in the morning. I love iced tea but it doesn't give me enough of a jump start. It is to hot to drink hot coffee. I have made a pot of it and chilled it and put powdered milk in and sugar, but is there anything else I can do? I also had some whipped cream which was very tasty but has too much fat.

Thank you,

Leaves Falling Off a Crepe Myrtle Tree Early

I have a young crepe myrtle tree. It bloomed beautifully this spring, and I've trimmed the old flowers, and I'm already seeing new flowers. Many leaves of the tree are turning orange and falling off. When I first noticed this, I pruned to as to get rid of the bare spots. New growth has been vigorous. But I'm noticing that it's losing leaves again. We're dry here, but there's a good layer of mulch, and I don't think it's getting too much or too little water. Also, I fertilized it once this spring. Any idea why the tree seems to think it's autumn?

My Head Sweats a Lot

I am embarrassed by this but my "head" sweats a lot, usually when I'm out in public buying groceries just walking in the mall window shopping or cooking dinner. The doctors I've seen say it is menopause. Ha! It is getting worse every year and last year I had a complete hysterectomy. My hair stays soaked and the sweat feel "slimy" with no odor (thank God). Anyone have a remedy? I just don't want to go out anymore,

Thanks,

Freezing Eggplants

Selecting High-Quality Eggplants: Freezing eggplants will severely alter their texture, but is still useful for some recipes. Harvest eggplants before seeds become mature and when color is uniformly dark. Skins should be smooth, glossy and free of cuts and scars. Smaller eggplants are more likely to be tender. The eggplant should feel firm, and heavy for its size. Eggplants tend to have a short shelf life when fresh, so plan to process as quickly as possible after harvesting.
