Gooey Orange Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 can orange juice concentrate (reg. size)
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 4 cups biscuit mix (like Bisquick), prepared according to directions on box
  • OR
    • 4 cups sifted flour
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 6 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • sugar
  • cinnamon

Directions

Mix together sugar, orange juice and butter. bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into 9x13 inch pan. Mix up biscuit mix or combine flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse meal. Pour in milk all at once and mix lightly. Divide dough into two parts, or if you have a large table, it can be all rolled out at once; roll until about 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon (use plenty). Roll like a jelly roll. Cut slices about 1 inch thick. Arrange in orange mixture, cut side down. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.
