Freeze Recycled Containers for Lunches I was eating some applesauce and yogurt today, and while stacking them together for rinsing and recycling, I had this amazing idea. If you filled the yogurt cup 1/2 full of water and froze it, you could fill the applesauce cup with fruit, pudding, yogurt, dip, dressing, ice cream, or even applesauce! It will stay cold, and once the ice begins to melt, the cup will stay on top as the lips are almost a perfect match! Perfect for parties, picnics, and bbqs! Source: My own thrifty brain! Chloe is a 7 year old Rat Terrier. We found her in the paper and we got her in September of 2002. She likes to chase after you through the house, and chase balls in the yard. She will sneeze for a treat. If you spell the word treat out she knows what it spells also. By Sharon from Manchester, MO Contest Contender!

Tater (Tat) is less than a year old. She's a "Heinz57" (mixed breed, unknown, Mutt). When I first moved here my neighbor brought her to me. She likes to catch mice and bring them to me! Tater likes to nap with me. She likes to suck my thumb and sometimes chew to wake me up. She loves ice cream in the evening and raw fresh farm eggs for breakfast. She likes to watch the Sci-Fi channel and likes the computer. She especially likes to help me type! We like sharing a bag of chips or crackers. She loves being outside. I took an old towel and sewed it like a pillow case to the size of my broom. It works great to cover the broom, when I dust around the ceiling for webs and dirt. It keeps any dirt from the broom getting onto the walls. I just wash it in the laundry when it is dirty. By mom-from-missouri from NW Missouri Contest Contender!

We made chore cards. I listed the chore, and they decorated the front. On the back we described the chore (so doing the dishes didn't mean wash the cups and you're done). We included feeding and watering animals, making dessert, vacuum, taking out garbage, etc. We also had a free card. We then laminated them. This way the kids understood what each chore was, and there were some fun stuff too. We made enough cards so each child had three chores. When the chore was done, they returned it to a container and then we knew the chore was done. You can then reward them for doing chores and not having to remind them. It was fun everyday to gather around and pass them out like a deck of cards. By Honna from New London, WI Contest Contender!

Bath and Body Works Clearance Sales Bath and Body works has their big annual clearance sales twice a year: in January and June. If you want to indulge yourself with some fancy-schmancy body wash, lotions, etc. These are the months to do it. Be sure to sign up with them online for their e-mails (if you don't mind being e-mailed daily) and mention the online specials in the store. I once had a saleswoman there tell me that they only honor the online specials if you verbally mention them. My reward? I got 3 bottles of shower gel for $13.50! So stock up in January and June and during the year mention online specials. The nice thing about their products, too, is that they are of good quality, so a little bit goes a long way. I probably can make my 3 bottles of shower gel last the next 5 months! Let me know if this information helped you in any way or what deals you got. By Bluesome from Tonawanda, NY Contest Contender!

High School Graduation Gift Ideas The oldest grandchild on my husband's side of the family graduated this year, so I came up with a gift idea to give her a good start at college. I emailed the relatives to ask for recipes, household hints, and study tips. I asked them to email their reply. I then uploaded them onto a thumb drive for the computer (My own recipes are filed on my computer, so it was easy to organize). I separated the replies into categories like a cookbook and uploaded them onto the thumb drive to give to her as a graduation present. I am saving the files I created on my computer under "College Cookbook" - we plan to make this a tradition for the grads in our family. We will give this to our grad at our summer family reunion, along with a laundry basket with nonperishable food items she will need to make the contributed recipes, cleaning supplies, and office supplies. I am also a commuting college student - one thing that helps me is my "office in a bag". A pencil bag with scissors, pencil sharpener, stapler, paper punch, highlighters, pens, pencils, a REALLY GOOD eraser, etc. sure helps me stay organized! I have a notebook to write personal notes from each family member (then when she is homesick, she can remember how much we love her), as well as household and study hints we think of at the last minute. It is a very economical, personal gift that will be extremely useful to a college Freshman, and a nice gift doesn't break the bank for any of us! By Marie from Idaho Falls, Idaho Contest Contender!

Product Review: Black and Decker Power Scrubber I have a little tool that I have had for at least 8 years. It's a Black and Decker Model PKS150 Power Scrubber, but since I bought mine, they have come out with newer models. I only paid about $10-15 for mine. It is used on every surface in the house, except glass and mirrors, although I have made a cover for it so that I'm able to use it on those surfaces, too. It's submersible, so I can use it to scrub the tub and toilet, too. Plus it's battery powered. Uses 4 AA batteries, of which I use rechargeables so I don't have to buy them. I love this product and keep it in my cleaning carry-tote. By Cricketnc from Parkton, NC Contest Contender!

Rate It: While replacing the roof shingles, it rained and leaked water to the dry wall ceiling. A few days later it dried OK, but started to bubble up the ceiling paint and it cracked in places. Rate It: Storage Ideas for a House With No Closets I need cheap, frugal ideas on how to create space like the hat holder idea I have in my house. It is just plain string and it is knotted with loops all the way down and then secured to the wall with a nail. I hang all my Velcro baseball and racing hats from the loops. This is an older house, before closets were invented with no halls. It is cottage style with one living room and dining room in a square with other rooms all around it in a circle. I am surprised there are even doors. There are no closets. We have nails on the wall to hang stuff, when we can get a nail to penetrate the incredibly hard walls. Does anyone have any other storage ideas for a small place that will not break the bank? We already use plastic tubs and dressers for most of the clothes. Thanks. Rate It: What is the Title of This Movie? I'm looking for an older horror movie I saw in the 90's. The parts I remember were that a group of teens are traveling to a house for a trip of some sort. When they arrive things start happening that lead them into the barn where they find a bull's skull with a human skeleton body. Symbolizing some sort of satanic cult maybe? Somewhere along the line one of the girls gets turned into a doll and you see the doll bleeding. I just remember this being the scariest movie I'd ever seen but I don't recall the title. Can you help? Thanks. By ninnygal27 from York, PA Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf50450596.tip.html

Rate It: Helping Locating an Old Commercial A few years ago there was a commercial featuring an older lady teetering around on high heels. She was walking towards some really tacky, over-sized gold colored leaves. The punchline as she motions to the leaves was "these are leaves" and then something like "they said 'Meg, buy me'" I love that commercial but can't find it anywhere, or remember what it was for. I think it was for the Ikea stores. Does anyone remember? By collinsmom from NJ Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf46604614.tip.html

Rate It: Powder Coat Finish on Patio Furniture Looks Dull I have a set of black metal mesh patio furniture that's about 8 years old. The powder coat finish is beginning to lose its luster and take on a lighter, faded look. I've washed it and that didn't help. Is there something I can apply to return it to its darker color? It almost looks as if oiling it with something might help, but I'm a little wary of trying that in case it would end up in a gunky mess.
