Add Milled Flax Seed to Meat Loaf |
|
|
To add nutrition to meatloaf and other foods, I add Milled Flax Seed to it instead of oatmeal or bread. This way I am sneaking in great nutrition into my families dinner, but they don't even know it.

RE: Add Milled Flax Seed to Meat Loaf
The Canadian Flax Council says... "flax seed adds nutrition, taste and eye appeal to many of your favourite home-cooked foods." (note: cooked)
Ground flax is more easily digested than whole flax.
Here's some excellent info on flax: http://www.flaxcouncil.ca/recindex.htm
Cooked or cold, flax offers excellent fibre and many other nutritional benefits. To enjoy flax cold, sprinkle some on your yogurt or on your peanut butter sandwiches.
Add flax to your pancake mix or muffin mix, even into cookies, but reduce oil somewhat to allow for the extra oil in ground flaxseed

The Health Food Store told me to get the nutrition from flax seed you should eat it cold. They said to stop adding it to food items that you cook.
