Make Your Own Clorox Ready Mop Pads
Cheap Refill Pads for the Clorox Ready Mop. After reading about the shrunken wool for refill pads for the Swiffer Wet Jet Mop, I thought I'd share how I economize for the Clorox Ready Mop. For pad replacements, I use old cloth diapers (I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the diapers after my kids were potty-trained).

Uses for Clothes Pins?
Cheap Chip Clips
Instead of buying the "fancy" clip bag closures to close up the potato chip bag, use a "spring-type" clothespin instead. Serves the same purpose and is cheaper!

Cheap Meals
My former college roommate's Mother owned a restaurant in ski-country in Gunnison, CO. Cold and hungry skiers gobbled up her spaghetti. Very simple and sounds unappetizing. Cook spaghetti noodles, pour tomato or tomato-vegetable juice over it. Season to taste (Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese).

Cheap Plant Propagators
Here in France we buy our croissants, pastries, etc in lidded "cellophane" boxes. They come in all shapes and sizes but all are deep and ideal as mini-propagators for seeds and/or cuttings. Housework won't kill you, but then again, why take the chance! By Lizaixi

Seasoning Cast Iron Skillets
To keep my cast iron skillets and pots seasoned, I wash them in hot soapy water after use and then dry them on the stove. As soon as they dry, I spray vegetable oil from my spray pump onto the surface of the pot or skillet, wipe the excess off with a dishrag or paper towel and then take them off of the heat. The hot iron absorbs the oil and keeps the pots from sticking. By Donna

Cleaning Spills on Flat Top Stove
When cleaning a very bad spill (from boiled over sugar to spilled baked beans) off of a flat top stove do not invest in the very expensive cleaners made for these stoves, they do not work. Spray on a little oven cleaner, turn on the burner for a few seconds, let cool and then wipe clean. By Traci in Indiana

Inexpensive Cat Toy Ideas
Don't buy expensive cat toys! put a marble, a couple paper clips or some dried beans in an empty prescription bottle, put the lid back on, and roll it across the floor. My cat plays with these for hours!

What Do I have... Crabgrass?
Hi, I have some sort of grass and I don't know what it is. It has leaves that are 7/16 of an inch wide and has lines in it. The stem of the grass is really stiff or hard and it grows a lot faster than my other grass. It also has a lighter color than my other grass (fescue). Can you please help me out on what it is and how I can get rid of it. Diana from Michigan

Caterpillars are Taking Over My Trees
I am in Washington State and there are caterpillars everywhere right now. They are orange and black and about an inch long. You can see their nests all over my trees and when you look closely at the nests there are between 10 to hundreds of caterpillars in each one. These things are going to devour everything. Anyone know how to get rid of them? I believe these are called tent caterpillars. Thanks Joy in WA

Decorating ideas for a High School "Spring Sport" Banquet
Help! I need some ideas on how to decorate a High School cafeteria for a spring sport banquet. The kids that will attend are golfers, baseball and softball players, tennis and track. We don't want the room to like the cafeteria, but don't want to spend a fortune either. Any ideas?

Inside Tricks to Speed Cleaning Your Home
By Mary Findley
Time is tight, the kids want attention, dinner simmers on the stove and the house needs cleaning. Did someone mention housework? Most people would rather darn socks than clean their home. Consequently those annoying chores get tucked on the back burner where they sit simmering until the pot boils dry. That once 30-minute job has now turned into a half-day nightmare.

Home Maintenance: The Roof
We tend to ignore the roof until it begins to leak. Leaks are expensive and can cause extensive damage. Check your roof for possible damage every spring and fall and after heavy winds, hail, or an ice storm.
