Craft idea: Recycled Jar Candle Holders I wanted soft lighting for my apartment deck at night instead of the stark electric deck light. So I came up with the idea of a hanging jar lantern. Two, three and more to come. You'll most likely have all the needed items already but if you don't, none are expensive. Materials
Instructions
I tried to make the hanger with just one piece of wire but it wasn't stable enough to keep the candle level. What I did was secure a wire under the lip part of the lid. Then threaded and secured one end of a longer wire through that first wire. Then chose the length for hanging, bent and secured the other end of the second wire to the opposite side of the first wire. Place a bit of water in the bottom of the wired jar before placing the candle in it. This makes for easy melted wax removal, and the water is a good safety measure. When the candle burns to the bottom of the glass jar there is always a possibility the jar will break from heat buildup. Also, it's not a bad idea to place a bit of water in the bottom, even if it's a Tea Candle because they float well.
<[>If you don't have a long match, just use a piece of spaghetti to light instead

Craft Project: Bird Cage Night Light I bought an old bird cage hanger at an auction. Later found an old bird cage. I had to use them to make something. This is what I came up with. The light is on a timer to turn on and off in the living room each night. I can use as a night light until I go to bed.

Rate It: Sometimes the perfect gift is right in your own home. I re-purposed the best parts of a flannel nightgown, a fleece throw, and a satin pillowcase (all of which I already had) to create this "taggie" blanket for an upcoming baby shower. Pretty, useful and completely free. My machine was broken so I had to hand sew and it only took me a few nights in front of the TV to finish it. Source: Necessity, the mother of all inventions. Landscaping Fabric as an Embroidery Stabilizer It's hard to find a stabilizer for machine embroidery on black and navy fabrics. I've found that weed barrier cloth (landscaping fabric) which is black in color works great and is both cheap and sturdy. If you need it thicker simply double the thickness. It also works for interfacing on dark fabrics when sewing garments. It's made to withstand the weather so it's great in the wash! By Cyinda Contest Contender!

I'm in need of clever and simple ideas for how kids (ages 6-12) could make sandals similar to what Jesus wore. 30 kids will make them, so we'd need a fairly inexpensive material stronger than construction paper. These sandals don't have to last forever. Thanks for your thoughts. By sl-Ida from ID Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf31840019.tip.html

Rate It: Too Many Unfinished Craft Projects I have several craft projects that I would like to complete. Example: I have a denim quilt that I have started sewing. I have a sweater I started crocheting (almost done). I have an afghan I started crocheting. I recently started to make a purse from potato chip bags (like gum wrapper chain from the 70's). Any ideas on how to get these projects completed? I have them organized in empty Avon boxes in a very small closet. Help please. By jcarpenter from Mt. Rate It: Converting Slides Into a Digital Format I found some old photo slides from my dad. How do I manage to get them into a digital format (to at least view and select for archiving)? Hopefully there are some inexpensive solutions. There are dozens of boxes and a carousel or two. Do I need to to take them to a place to process or develop first? Any suggestions?
